Owner description: Busy street lined with some of Victoria's biggest tourist attractions.

There are a lot of tourist trap stores but if you like that sort of thing then there are lots of trinkets and tourist types of baubles. There can also be some panhandlers but not as many as on Douglas Street.
What is good is the old city feel with the antiquated buildings and look. There are some great buskers as well, particularly in the summer time.

I don't really care for tourist shops, but there are a lot of places to get that special souvenir to take home along this stretch of street.

The harbour of Victoria is beautiful and a great place for a walk. However, I find Government street tacky - clearly aimed at the cruise ship crowd, many of the souvenirs border on racist (stereotypes of First Nations), and supposed First Nations crafts are clearly mass produced.

Always an interesting walk. Lots of nice stores, Munro's Book Store and Rogers chocolates have been there a very long time but worth visiting each time I get a chance.

Overlooks the Inn Harbor with beautiful trees, green grass everywhere and is pedestrian and bike friendly.
