“Not Exactly As Illustrated”
Reviewed May 24, 2014

When booking accommodations through a website, one learns to expect that things may not be "exactly as illustrated". Though we know better, we did have fairly high expectations for the Beaconsfield Inn; positive reviews and ratings all fueled our anticipation.

The reality of our experience surpassed all expectations! Websites and brochures cannot adequately describe this B&B - it is apparent from the moment that you arrive, Warren, Gary, and staff are fully committed to embracing you as part of their family; the care and attention to every detail was amazing, and their pride and pleasure shines through all that they do!

The only 'downside' is, it's tough to want to leave . . .

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful, and have a different layout to suit sleeping requirements.

Gary and Warren are the fabulous hosts of this beautiful B&B. I booked 3 nights here as a birthday treat for my daughter on our travels in the NW. The furnishings and decor are beautiful and the open fires in the bedrooms just add to the luxurious, restful feel of the whole house. The sherry hour, breakfast, cakes are all lovely touches. The help from the hosts in sorting out problems and making recommendations for trips, restaurants etc just added to the great few days we had at the end of a lovely holiday. We shall definitely be seeking out Gary and Warren again - hoping that they manage to retain the management of the Beaconsfield under the recent changes.

My daughter and I enjoyed 3 nights in this wonderful B&B. Gary and Warren are fabulous hosts and breakfast is a delight! We loved our room, the fire we were able to have in our bedroom in the evening, the sherry at 6 in the library and the afternoon cakes. Gary and Warren also make great recommendations for restaurants and things to do, one of my bookings turned a bit pear- shaped and they sorted the whole thing out for me - all over and above what you'd normally get in a B&B! While there the house had been sold I do hope they are able to keep running it as it is - it would be such a pity to lose this lovely gem of a place! However if they do move We will be looking out for their new venture and visiting them again! (And Mindy of course their lovely fluffy companion!) The whole experience just added to what had already been an amazing holiday.

We have just returned from a visit to Victoria and our stay at the beautiful Beaconsfield Inn. Gary and Warren were exceptional hosts. They went above and beyond to be helpful - suggesting and making reservations for restaurants; finding phone numbers and addresses for stores for items left on the plane and even a financial newspaper we were trying to find. The Inn is easy walking distance to Beacon Hill Park as well as downtown and Cook St. Village. Each morning breakfast was served in the sunroom or in the dining room. We were served a delicious home made muffins, a fruit dish and main course which changed daily. It was hard to come back to reality. Coffee is available early in the morning in the library. In the afternoon there are fresh backed cookies, coffee and tea and sherry is available at 6 p.m. Our room, The Hideaway, was beautiful. The house is furnished with antiques. We highly recommend this Inn.

This was our first visit to the INN and we would definitely go again. Warren was a very gracious host who went out of his way to accommodate us and make the stay memorable. The Emily Carr suite was very functional, nice linens and a comfy bed. the decor is interesting with a fireplace an jaccuzzi tub for quiet times. Breakfasts were delicious and very creative. The croissants were outstanding.

The rooms are wonderful old fashioned rooms, modernized only in the amenities. Fireplace is a wonderful, romantic touch for an anniversary getaway. Their breakfasts are to die for (e.g. Caramel brule french toast). And it's a short walk to downtown.

We travel to Victoria at least twice a year to visit our son and relatives. We always stay in hotels just so we have a bit of freedom to do as we please. This time we decided to the B&B route, that is the best decision we have made. Warren and Gary are such wonderful hosts, and we had the wonderful opportunity to meet Mindy. Our room was absolutely beautiful, never mind the bed and pillows. Breakfast was the best, would never have had the selection and quality we were provided by Warren and Gary. Coffee, tea, the best cookies, bottled water were available through out our stay. Next visit we will stay with Warren and Gary if they will have us.

Room Tip: Stay, visit and be ready to be pampered.
