“Repeatable Perfection!”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Sometimes when you return to favourite vacation spot you can often be disappointed. This however, is NOT the case with this lovely inn in the centre of Victoria's best attractions. It's clear that the hospitable innkeepers and staff understand what it takes to make you feel welcome and comfortable over and over again. On this our second visit, we stayed in the beautiful Emily Carr Suite, complete with a lounging area and a Jacuzzi. (on our previous trip we had the Gatekeepers Suite - just fabulous too.) We also enjoyed three fabulous breakfasts, yummy warm cookies and tea mid-afternoon, followed later by a visit to the cozy library to discuss the merits of local eateries with our hosts and fellow guests before walking to some very fine restaurants. We observed the hosts deal with some difficult dietary challenges and interesting guest expectations - all with grace and a smile. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already looking for a date to return.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this wonderful place. The location of the Inn is very convenient: close enough to the centre (10 min walk) but also away from the crowds. Our room was spacious, very clean, quiet and tastefully decorated; at the Image of the house itself which is nothing less than a window opened into a glorious past. The Hosts were very professional and at the same time friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb. There are no negative points.

For anyone used to B and B's and all they offer over the hotel experience, we heartily recommend the Beaconsfield. It's the perfect combination of hospitable atmosphere with personalized, gracious attention, lovely rooms and impeccable service. The gourmet breakfasts have foodie appeal but with not the slightest snobbery or pretension (during our stay of five nights, no breakfast was repeated, and we were treated to a semifreddo, a clafouti, and sea asparagus, even though my personal favorite was the poached egg on a wonderful pepper strata.) And Gary and Warren have taken the extras that make B and B's so appealing to a whole other level. Return in the afternoon: there are fresh cookies and assorted teas waiting. Heading in or out between 6 and 8? There is sherry in the library and a chance to meet and chat with whoever's around. The breakfast room offers the same opportunity with assorted tables - you can meet other travellers or not, depending on your preference. We availed ourselves of plentiful travel information, wireless access, bottled water, sodas, and witnessed Gary and Warren going above and beyond for folks on numerous occasions - making reservations, arranging for rides, etc. They are the perfect hosts - offering help and friendship when needed and really caring about the experience of their guests - yet allowing guests to feel they were at home and never intruded upon. Victoria also offers an eclectic mix of ways to spend time, from outdoor explorations an hour away like Kinsol Trestle to cultural delights (the Art Gallery and Craigdarroch Castle just around the corner. Or simply walking the downtown, experiencing Fisherman's Wharf, the Empress Hotel, or the various fine dining spots (we recommend Cafe Brio!).
Our five days at the Beaconsfield went by much too quickly and we look forward to returning.

Room Tip: We might not choose the Duchess Room again. It was beautiful and very comfortable, with plenty of s...

My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at the Beaconsfield... our hosts, Gerard and Warren were both very helpful and made our stay everything we could have hoped for. We stayed in the Parlor Room... a mixture of Victorian elegance with a few modern touches. Location was great, a short walk to the Victoria Harbor business area and some great restaurants (thanks again to the Beaconsfield for the recommendations) as well as Beacon Hill park (makes for a great pre-breakfast walk or job)

We found Warren and Gary to be wonderful and caring inn keepers. They are down-to-earth folks and my wife and I very quickly came to consider them friends. The rooms are beautiful with unbelievable attention to detail and lavishly appointed. Breakfast time and tea time are not to be missed! :)

Room Tip: They have rooms with both sunny exposure and more shade. By chance, we got one with more shade whic...

As far as we are concerned, this is the ONLY place to stay in Victoria! The inn keepers, Gary & Warren have the most wonderful way of welcoming you into their home and really make you feel a part of the family. There isn't anything that escapes them and they shine with all the extra touches that make you feel like you are the most important guests. The house itself is beautiful, the rooms are done up perfectly and the food is amazing! We look forward to our next visit!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garden Suite, it has its own private entrance and the room is quite large and roomy...
