“Only 1 night but a delightful little hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

This was only a 1 night stay but it was most enjoyable.
Abigail's is a delightful, old-style, family-run hotel with cleram very comfortable rooms and amenities included. It is just a few minutes from the harbour behind the Empress - a perfect position, McClure St is now a cul-de-sac, so no through traffic, but has pedestrian access direct onto Quadra St.
Our 2nd floor Amethyst rooms are the Standards but they still have that country house feel with Tester-style beds - the mattress so soft you sink in it. The shower/toilet area is perhaps a little small as it fits into the rear of the angular end gable but it is still manageable.
A delicious breakfast is included - it is called 3-course - with a menu - but offers on-the-spot served food (not buffet) from a visible kitchen and chef.
The personal, very friendly and helpful service is a pleasure and is excellent.
Note It is only 3 floors above ground but no lift (elevator) could be a difficulty. I noted the sound attenuation between rooms was not good. I could hear a guest in the next room snoring and at 7:15am, his wife's telephone call ! Clearly enough to tell where she was from.
It was not an issue but it could have been embarrassing. Nevertheless, it didn't spoil our brief stay - I wouldn't suggest not staying at Abigail's because of it.
We would happily recommend Abigail's to anyone and would certainly enjoy staying here again, if coming to Victoria. My family from Gtr Vancouver who were with us loved it and would recommend it to their friends.
Thank you very much to the staff.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was freindly and helpful the breakfasts were were wonderful. I really feel that the whole Abigails experience captured the essence of what a trip to Victoria should be. This was our second visit to Abigails and we were pleased to find that Abigails had retained the qualities that made us want to return after years.

It's rare one has such an all around delightful experience as our 3 nights at Abigail's Inn. The staff is simply awesome. I would hire everyone of them in a minute and I am very picky. The breakfast each day was prize winning. Our room was all around top quality and comfortable. And then there is the spa ..... I had 8 hours of spa treatments over 2 days (7 different treatments). Never, anywhere in the world, have I had spa treatments as good as these! Yes, we have already made reservations for two return visits.

This is as good as most of the reviews say. I rarely rate anywhere 'excellent' but Abigail's earned it. The staff were outstanding, from our initial arrival through to returning to pick up our car several hours after we had checked out and gone off to explore Victoria. The rooms are quite 'frilly', but are very comfortable. The breakfasts that we had were fantastic, although they may not be great for fussy eaters as there are only three options available each day (light, savoury and sweet). I had a brie and spinach omelette one day and chocolate and coconut waffles the next.

What a fantastic place. I usually stay in brand hotels, and had fully intended to stay at the Fairmont Empress, but recent reviews of the facility scared me off. My only regret in booking here... was not staying longer.

Abigail's is less of a B&B, and more of a quaint little Inn. The room was soooo nice... 2 person jacuzzi, wood burning fireplace, and windows that actually open to let air flow through (The room was air conditioned as well).

Service was very friendly, and their free morning breakfast was better than you could buy at most high end restaurants.

Location: While their wasn't a ocean view, they are within perfect walking distance of the water front.

Abigail's is by far the most amazing hotel I've ever stayed in! My wife and I stayed for our honeymoon in April 2013, in the Orchid room and it was purely MAGICAL! The atmosphere/style/decor/architecture is a cross between Pride & Prejudice and Harry Potter (in a non-creepy way); the staff goes absolutely above and beyond all expectations; the breakfast each morning cannot even be classified as "continental", it was CLASSY! I'm surprised they don't charge more for the breakfast, but we certainly appreciated its inclusion with the room rate.
Vintage luxury with old-fashioned A+++ Customer service.

Room Tip: If you are on your honeymoon, the Orchid is ideal.

My husband and I loved our stay at Abigail's almost a year ago today. I am writing because not only was the service impeccable while we were there, but Ella, the Customer Service Representative, helped us out again today. We had lost our bill from the Hotel and wanted to claim a Visitor Tax Refund from the Canadian government. Ella looked up our record and promptly emailed me a copy of the bill to submit. The staff there is so helpful and do everything in their power to make your visit perfect (afternoon snacks, yummy breakfasts, recommending restaurants - even calling for reservations!). I highly recommend this beautiful, quaint and charming hotel.

Abigail's Hotel is a unique accommodation experience that blurs the lines between a small luxury hotel and a heritage bed-and-breakfast Inn. Abigail's is an adult-only, intimate 23-room property that is housed in a 1930's Tudor mansion. Its special atmosphere blends the romance and charm of the past with the comfort and convenience of modern accommodation. Located in romantic Victoria, British Columbia, Abigail's is quietly situated on the edge of the bustling downtown core and is three short blocks from Victoria's Inner Harbour, within walking distance of all the major downtown attractions and restaurants.
