“Loved it!!”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

We stayed for three nights and loved every minute! The staff was terrific, always there to meet any need. They gave great advice on things to do in the area and setup reservations as needed. Breakfast was excellent, and the evening snacks were great, enough to be our meal after a heavy lunch or afternoon tea (yes, do this too somewhere!). Each morning we woke to the smell of breakfast being made for some earlier risers. There was always apple cider, coffee, and tea available with many great flavors to choose from. The fire place was a hit with us too - I like the "real" log version they have that you lite with a match. Getting there, I thought the Garmin was lost as the street looked residential, but nope, it was right at the end of a dead end so that the hotel is actually on the main road with parking access in the back. It is a short walk to all the downtown attractions from there.

Walk to everything in about 10 minutes. Located in a nice residential area. Surprised us with a 5:00 pm snack tray ( cheese, salami, etc.) and their breakfast is great. Only negative is the stairs and climbing them with suitcases. If this is a problem ask for a lower room. We were on the 3rd flloor and it was tough going.

Room Tip: We were in the main building, very quiet and comfortable king bed. Stairs are severe so if this is a...

I stumbled upon this place while surfing the web to find a new place to stay in Victoria. What a find!! I was absolutely delighted with this beautiful hotel. You feel like you have stepped back in time and it resembles an English manor. The breakfast is 3 courses and included and absolutely superb!! There are complimentary appetizers served at 5pm each day and no detail is missed coffee and tea is always available in the main lobby. The staff are warm and friendly. You can have a quiet drink or visit in their parlor in anytime during your stay. Entering our room to soft music and very yummy cookies. I am definitely going back. Hurrah!

This charming B&B is a short walk from the ferry terminal in downtown Victoria. If there is a class above first class, this is it. I'm not easily impressed with hotels, but Abigail's left me speechless. We stayed in one of the Ruby King rooms. To begin with, the grounds are remarkable. The bed was fantastic and I was in love with the large, claw foot tub with rain can shower.
The staff was very attentive to our every need. Kelly (possibly the concierge?) was great. He helped us pick out a restaurant for dinner, even bringing up the menus of different restaurants on an iPad for us. He even got us reservations at a wonderful Italian restaurant that would have been impossible to get into otherwise, and scheduled a cab to come and pick us up from the hotel.
After dinner, we called the hotel because #1) we had no idea how to get back to Abigail's and #2) we were in no condition to try and figure it out ( we did imbibe a delicious libation or two) and the front desk was extremely polite and had a cab waiting outside the restaurant for us in less than 3 minutes.
The next morning, the 3 course breakfast provided by this B&B was so delightful, delicious and filling. They provided a menu of different items to choose from for each course.
Appetizers are served from 5-7pm and were quite sophisticated. This was a lovely snack as we decided our dinner plans.
Unfortunately, we were not able to utilize their wonderful library as our time was so limited, but we certainly will next time!!

It is a small boutique hotel with approximately 25 rooms consisting of two buildings. This was our second stay and we spent 5 nights there. Last year we stayed in the main building, where the reception is and the breakfast and afternoon snacks are served. This time we were put in the neighbouring building, where the room was smaller and we had to go outside to get to the main place. It was around 0 C in the morning.
That is my only complaint. Otherwise, everything was perfect. The sumptuous breakfast, tasty hors d’oeuvres, extremely attentive and pleasant staff. Free internet. Computer with printer available for guests’ use etc.
I attended a conference held at the Empress Hotel. It is only about a 10-minute walk from Abigail’s to the Empress Conference Centre, although it may take longer coming back going uphill.

We just returned from a quick weekend getaway to Victoria and were very impressed with this hotel. We normally stay at a small Victorian inn on the inner harbour as my husband is very much a creature of habit and does not like to deviate from routine. The Abigail's staff were courteous without being invasive, and quickly responded to queries and requests. The fireplace room we had was beautifully furnished and decor to match, with little things like wine glasses and a corkscrew that gave one the impression that no details were missed in providing impeccable customer service. The beds were super comfortable as were the towels/linens. Even though we were in the main building, we were not disturbed by the sounds of other guests, though we did hear footsteps from above on the third floor on occassion. If one stays in the main building, you will awake to the smells of freshly baked goods beginning around 6 or 6:30am. The food at breakfast gave one three choices, and the entrees varied from one day to the next. At the time of check in, staff did consult with us to see about food intolerances or allergies. I will insist to my husband that we return here every second year, as his preference is to be on the immediate front of the harbour, even though it was only a five minute walk to the backside of the Empress and Strathcona hotel.

We were warmly welcomed to the hotel and given a tour that ended at our room. We were pleased with our third floor sapphire room. Be sure you go down to the lobby before 6 PM if you are interested in enjoying some appetizers as they ran out on both nights because we arrived after 6 PM. You might want to call down in the morning to see if there is room in the dining room to sit for breakfast as our first morning the dining room was full. I am sure there is more room in the summer when the patio is open for breakfast. We found our room quiet and comfy. We liked being able to easily light a fire in the wood burning fireplace. Windows easily open which makes for a nice sleep. We loved the heater in the bathroom. I would encourage you to book a room on the top floor especially if you are a light sleeper. We enjoyed all our breakfast dishes except for the asparagus and shrimp crepe. The daily muffin and scone choice was always a difficult one. It was nice to sit and visit with other guests during the evening social from 5 - 7 PM.

Room Tip: Treat yourself and book a sapphire room on the third floor
