Stayed 4 nights on the start of a Rockies tour. Room large, big bed comfy chairs and good sized ensuite. Staff friendly. Couldn't get the coffee machine to work! Hotel in great location overlooking the Victoria harbour with water taxis, near the floatplane terminal, visitor centre, hop on hop off bus stops outside hotel. Easy walk up to shops, restaurants etc. hotel set in well kept gardens lots of hanging baskets. Join the free Presidents Club for all Fairmont Hotels to get free wi-fi in hotel.

Room Tip: Would be nice to have a room facing the harbour

We stayed at "The Empress" and had a great experience. First of all, this hotel is so full of charm and history you can't help feeling fortunate. Our junior suite was very clean and well kept, although the sofa and chair seemed a bit dated. We could hear a child running around above us on the 6th floor so I believe if they added padding to their carpeting it would be the best ever place to stay. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The safe, bathrobes and extra comfy bed truly made us feel like royalty. Make sure to have the afternoon tea. (Please dress appropriately for this occasion. We didn't feel it was as special seeing others dressed in cut-offs and flip flops.)

Room Tip: Make sure to join the Fairmont Presidents Club so you can get free wi-fi in your room. We asked for a high floor room (only 6 floors) and had a view of the harbor. Excellent choice.

The hotel is well-kept and a landmark of Victoria. We were at a renovated Gold Club room, which felt very comfy. Only disappointment was the in-room coffee maker. The Gold Club however, offered really good coffee, so all was fine.

We had a beautiful suite with a harbour view - roomy and comfortable. The bathroom was a little in the small side for a suite. The bars and restaurants are superb and quality of food and drink excellent. We were fortunate to be able to use the Gold Lounge which is very comfortable. The Gold concierges vary in the quality of their advice - in some cases incorrect! The location of the hotel is superb to be able to explore the city. There is a nice pool in the basement which we used a couple of times. We did love staying in the historic hotel and would return.

What a special place to celebrate a special occasion! Everyone and everything was top drawer. Beautiful grounds, beautifully decorated rooms and hotel. Wonderful restaurants - we ate at the Bengal Lounge, the Empress room and had High Tea. Be sure to reserve a time for High Tea. The cost is well worth it! The staff are very courteous and pleased to help answer questions and give directions. It had been several decades since we were last here....we plan to return again soon!
