The Hotel was great, not once did we have to call for any complaints. Everything in the room was what we needed and room service was exceptional, we will for sure tell our friends about our stay and will come back to stay once again!!

The room was very clean, large, and nicely appointed. We had everything we needed to make for a comfortable stay. The internet was fast and stable. The bed was very comfy. Great service from the staff who were helpful at every turn.

Two minor things. 1 recommendation from the concierge was off, the restaurant was actually terrible. But as the staff of the hotel have no control over the action of others, I don't hold them accountable in any way.

The room, which we paid to upgrade to a deluxe room had a charming view of... the loading zone of the hotel. Morning, noon, and night there were trucks backing up, warning sirens, clanging gates and all. While not every room can be a garden or harbour view, the deluxe rooms should not be those with the worst view and the most noise.

Dear Valued Guest from Edmonton,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a honest review on Tripadvisor regarding your recent stay at The Fairmont Empress and your visit to Victoria.
I was very pleased to read you found the deluxe guest room comfortable and to your liking with it being “very clean, large, and nicely appointed”, however I am truly apologetic your view was disappointing with it being of the operations of the hotel, along with having some noise concerns. It certainly seems we missed an opportunity of explaining the deluxe room category is based upon their larger size and unique features, and unfortunately some of these rooms do not have a garden or city view. I have certainly taken the opportunity to share your concerns with my Front Office Team and my Purchasing Team in order for them to review their processes to ensure we are correctly communicating with our guests and ensuring our hotel operation is not disturbing.
Thank you very much for selecting us as your destination in Victoria and we are certainly looking forward to welcoming you back to The Fairmont Empress and the Pacific.

I travel to Victoria for business a few times a year and booked a room at the Empress for a special event. There were eight of us at the hotel and the highlight was the Bengal Lounge / amazing food and great service. Room was super nice (just keep the blinds closed if you're not on the harbor side). The breakfast in the Gold Room lounge was tasty and offered a great choice of food to get your day going. Join Freinds of the Empress if you live in the area and get great offers. I will be staying here again for my next trip in Sept.

The Fairmont is a gracious, historic hotel overlooking the harbor and steps away from many attractions, including the Royal B.C. Museum. Its elegance is unsurpassed and our room didn't disappoint. Our primary reasons for choosing the hotel was its location and to experience a taste of a bygone era. The food is a tad overpriced and unremarkable, and after experiencing afternoon tea in other parts of the world, The Fairmont's was just "okay" and expensive. With that being said, you can't beat the ambiance of this beautiful hotel, and it's worth a visit for a day or two!

On behalf of the entire team at The Fairmont Empress thank so much for taking the time to write such a honest review on Tripadvisor regarding your recent stay at The Fairmont Empress and visit to Victoria.
Your wonderful description of the hotel as being, “gracious, historic hotel overlooking the harbor and steps away from many attractions, including the Royal B.C. Museum. Its elegance is unsurpassed and our room didn't disappoint” certainly reflects the wonderful property.
I am truly apologetic you found our Afternoon Tea not quite up to the level we are striving for, and if there is anything that comes to mind that we could change or tweak please do not hesitate to let me know as I am more than happy to share this valuable feedback with the Culinary and Service teams.

We visited the hotel simple to see the sites and enjoy the view of such a beautiful historic site. Great please for high tea, or a great meal, or for a night or two in downtown Victoria. We recommend it to anyone traveling through this area.

What an amazing hotel! I was lucky enough to stay in the 'Gold' suite part of the hotel where guests enjoy a first class lounge and all kinds of tasty treats! The beds were very comfortable and the Keurig in the room was divine! Everyone was helpful, courteous, professional and friendly. The only down side of the entire place is that I had to leave!

The Empress is a landmark hotel in the heart of downtown Victoria. The hotel veranda has the best view of the inner harbour, where you can eat and still have a quiet conversation, inspite of the float planes taking off and landing. Be prepared for sticker shock at the price of a bowl of clam chowder. This soup was $20/bowl on the day we visited in July 2011.
