Description: A stylish sophisticated urban lounge in the heart of downtown Victoria, Veneto is the ideal place to unwind with co-workers and friends. Adorned in exotic wood, leather and Italian marble, Veneto seduces patrons with its extensive cocktail menu and its savoury offerings from our chef. Every entree is presented tapas style and comprised of three unique dishes within the entree. Our executive chef Tod Bosence has designed flavours that are unique yet complimentary, and that provide an engaging taste experience, ideal for sharing. Veneto's bartenders led by Simon Ogden, display their knowledge and passion with a classically inspired cocktail list. Fresh squeezed citrus, only top shelf spirits and exacting techniques. Veneto offers its patrons a small but significant wine selection, both by bottle and by the glass. We specialize in North American Craft beer as well as boast the largest selection of bourbons in the city.

“What's All the Fuss About?”

This restaurant /cocktail bar comes highly reviewed, so I was I was looking forward to trying it out. First the good news. The barstaff are entertaining and appear to produce an excellent array of coktails. There is a DJ, but mixing sounds that do not offend in tone or volume even after a lengthy flight and jet lag.

But I'm afraid I cannot recommend the food. I had a dish of halibut which was essentially a lot of potato, with a few frozen beans and some sausage added, with a piece of halibut on top. So, the overwhelming ingredient was a lot of potato, cooked in the sausage fat, with a reasonable piece of fish slung on top. Certainly not my idea of fine dining!

Wow. That about sums up this place. We stayed in the adjoining Hotel Rialto and read amazing reviews of this restaurant and gave it a try. If we would have tried it our first night instead of last, we may not have gone anywhere else. Be sure to sit at the bar....their bartenders are award-winning master mixologists and are entertaining to say the least. The food...impeccable. Have the pork belly slider if it's on the menu, delicious. Highly recommend eating here.

The food is fantastic! The ambience is great! Loved it! Don't miss the croquettes. They are stuffed with pulled port and are delicious. The drink menu is a little confusing but the food is to die for!

“One of the most valuable places I've ever been to, for sure.”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

So, what is to say about this lounge. It is excellent in all respects. Granted, this place is expensive, it looks a little upper classy, one might even say snobbish, but if you don't plan to go there everyday you should be fine. We were seated right away, the atmosphere was great, it was somewhat darkish, candlelight, piano music playing in the background, overall a really fitting atmosphere.
The waitresses were attentive and very nice, they were constantly checking on us and were really professional. You would just have to give them a quick look and they would come over directly.
Moving on to the food and drinks... what can I say? Was I blown away? Yes, indeed.
The cocktails were totally not what I had expected, but they were even better, All of them were self-creations made my the bartenders, so they had their individual tastes and incomparable flavours. They were not very big, but really strong and this is what I like about drinks, when they're not full of water and juices, so this was a major plus. My dad ordered bruschette in three different variants which turned out to be delicious as well. They were creatively decorated and served hot with lots of different toppings.
I would go there again anytime. It's a fancy place, depending on what you like this might seem too over the tops at first, but it fits the reputation very well.

“Don't over order!”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

The servings at Veneto are extra-generous. So unless you're super hungry be careful. My Veggie order was a meal in itself. And the combinations and flavours are original and delicious. It's definitely worth a stop - and be sure to try the spanish ribs.
