“Great dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012 via mobile

Vancouver in December....freezing!!, so it was nice to come across this little Italian restaurant gem in Robson Street. We had a window seat overlooking the street, which was nice. The service was very good and the food exceptionally good. We tried a bottle of red from Veeziz...very nice drop indeed. Overall the experience was excellent and we will definitely head back there before we head to Banff.

“Average food, lousy service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2012

I just went with a group of 18-20 people to Zefferelli's for lunch. We had a set four course menu with choices between soup or salad and fish or beef or chicken. The quality of food was average and I doubt there is anyone with true Italian heritage in the kitchen. We had penne with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese as part of the menu; the parmesan never arrived, not even after asking for it. Most wines by the glass are priced at $9.00, but you can get much better wines for that price in other eating establishments. Our waitresses never asked if everything was OK, if anything was missing etc, nor did they bother coming by or even looking our direction. After dessert, one waitress surprisingly showed up and asked four out of seven people on our table if they would like some tea or coffee and then took off without asking the other three. We managed to sneak in an order for the other three that she couldn't avoid to take and two people actually had the luck to get what they ordered, one person was never served her tea.

Another point was that it was terribly noisy in the restaurant, which made it very difficult to follow a conversation even on the same table.

Having said the food was average at best, the service was a disaster. We even had to stand up and walk over to the bar to ask to get the cheque, because everybody was busy cleaning up other tables. I can just assume, that since we were a larger party and the 18% gratuity were already set, they didn't deem it necessary to really care about their guests...

Great Italian food fare. Reasonably priced. Excellent Service! Always go every visit I make to Vancouver! Probably my favorite restaurant.

“So - you don't have a reservation, it's raining and . . .”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

Getting to the Metropolitan Hotel late in the afternoon, not wanting fancy at Diva's or Hawkesworth, we searched on line for Italian within walking distance. Zefferelli's popped up and they had a table for two as fast as we could get there. Robson Street on a rainy Sunday night is a busy people place and we dodged umbrellas and car splashes in the 8 minute walk. Seated near the window on the second floor we enjoyed the white light sparkle outside and the hubbub of happy foodies in. Our starters were a golden beet salad with goat cheese and bruschetta followed by penne with Italian sausage and penne with lamb - one tomato based the other cream. Penfolds cabernet sauvignon completed the fare. Outstanding food and service.

“Mouthwatering food. Excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

I had Chicken Cacciatore and when it first came, I felt disappointed because I thought that it would be served on top of pasta. But instead, it was served with roasted potatoes and tasty vegetables.. It was one of the best meals that I have ever had. The flavor of the sauce was salty and rich with tomato and mushrooms.
I was by myself and only had water to drink and did not have an appetizer so I was suprised that my server was very attentive even though he also had several big tables.
It was a very cozy place to have a meal on a rainy evening.
