“Our Favorite sushi place in all of Vancouver!”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

Every time family or friends come to visit, we take them here. The food is fresh and so flavorful!

TIP: Portions of sushi rolls are big- so don't order as much as you normally do.

Hubby and I eat rolls mainly, we spend $12.00 total and walk out full. If you're a big eater, you may spend a little more, but the point is, that the food is so good and it's so cheap!

“Humble, brilliant, authentic, friendly and inexpensive Japanese food.”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

I have eaten here many times when visiting Vancouver, usually for lunch. The lunch bento special is one of the best deals in Vancouver. The quality of food served is always excellent and abundant. I have never had a so-so dish here. I believe that the restaurant is owned by Japanese. The servers are mostly Japanese, and there are many Japanese residents of Vancouver who eat here regularly because the food is so good. Some of my favourites here are agadashi tofu, tuna cone, tempura and teriyaki chicken.
The staff are very friendly and service is fast in this small, clean and often busy restaurant.

“Very Good Japanese Food at Ridiculusly Low Prices”
Reviewed December 23, 2011

This unpretentious little downtown restaurant, located centrally on Davie just a block above Burrard, makes up in value what it might lack in ambiance. The seating area--perhaps for 40 customers--is about 12 feet wide by 30 feet deep. The tables are too close together. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable. The music was too loud. Sounds like a negative Review coming up here? Not at all!

The SAMURAI is not white linen dining. It is dining for people who love good food, but demand a bargain at the same time. We each had one of the daily specials: miso soup, small sunomono salad (perfectly balanced!), four huge dynamite rolls with a crunchy rice side dish, and the main course--an array of chicken teriyaki on bean sprouts with tempura vegetables, dipping sauce, and a bowl of rice. Everything was very fresh, delicately flavoured, and grease-free. And what did all this cost? $11.95. No, no, you don't have to clean your glasses--$11.95 for all that food. We took enough food HOME with us to feed the small band of gypsies that hangs out under our oak tree.

So, if you're in the West End, you're hungry, all you've got on you ins a ten spot and a bunch of loose change, forget the fast food! --Now you know where to go. Enjoy
