If your not fussy for being in a place less than 15 tables but serves one of the best sushi and sashimi in town with specialty rolls that will make you mouth water and a very very reasonable price, this is the place. Lunch and dinner times are usually packed but come early and you can call this place your favorite after the first bites. Enjoy

We went there on our hotel staff recommendation. We were fortunate to get a table right away since we went late (about 8 PM). The restaurant is very small and people sat very close to each other. But the food was great, at very good price. We spent only less than $60 on food for family of 5. The salmon and tuna sashimi was great, and so were the other dishes. There were many Japanese restaurant in the vicinity, and no wonder why this one was always crowded.

Don't be put off by the typical big- city sidewalk rush-in lunch spot atmosphere, Kadoya is terrific Japanese food at a reasonable price. Generous servings of well- prepared sushi, sashimi, and bento boxes mean you will see several patrons taking leftovers home in a bag for a snack. Try the Snow White roll , it is different and tasty with a sprinkling of cocoanut. It may be crowded, but when your food is served you'll know why, and you won't have to pay for fancy atmosphere.

Ordered bento box as well as sample platters. Beautiful, fresh, fantastic flavours. Good value for amount of food. Accommodated a vegetarian with some non-fish options. Staff busy that night with take-outs so service slow. Good to get there before 6:30.

There are two locations Downtown. One right beside English Bay and one on Davie Street. After I moved away from Vancouver Kadoya was one of the places I missed the most. I occasionally get cravings for their spicy salmon sashimi which comes with tiny chunks of garlic and green onion and the most delicious spicy sauce I have failed to replicate over 100 times. I also miss their unique tuna rolls.. I don't know how, but their tuna roll is always kinda crunchy. The Sakura roll is a must.. their chicken salad is delicious it's grilled saucy chicken with a side of salad (kind of misleading on the menu) Their clam miso is generous and yummy with a mild hint of fresh clams. And if you get any roll I recommend getting a side of house spicy sauce (The same kind that goes on their spicy sashimi) every already tasty roll is suddenly 10x better with the sauce. They have a small beer and sake section and the last time I was in they had a whole bunch of new menu items like sushi pizza (not my favorite but tasty)

Kadoya is unique in the sense it offers upscale chef rolls in a non upscale place for less then what you would pay on the BC ferries for a California roll.

So don't bother paying one of those lame 5.99 for a hundred pieces of sushi places when you can spend a bit more and get amazing sushi and sashimi.

A massive meal with an appetizer spicy salmon sashimi, a clam miso, a sonomono salad, a volcano roll, an order of kushiyaki, and a pizza sushi roll (which left two people ridiculously full and with left overs the next day) came to 45$ with tip.

The waitresses are always nice and always refill your teas promptly unless it is super busy. It would be much cheaper if you didn't want to make a piggy out of yourself and got just enough to leave you lightly full, instead of unpleasantly full like me and my fiancee.. we were so stuffed we both had tummy aches and a bag of left overs.
