“Mojito pitchers for the win!!”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Wanna get drunk on the cheap before heading to the club scene or just want to enjoy a casual evening with friends or a loved one with lots of booz and amazing food... well Guus got you covered for all those occasions.

The thing I love most about this place is you can get a huge mojito pitcher (they have different flavors like a sake mojito, a blue berry mojito and some other great ones) for 16$. That gives me and a special someone two full cups of yummy! And they pack a great alcoholic punch without tastefully being over powering. They also do well priced pitchers of beer and a good selection of other drinks...

Now onto the amazing food...

This place has ruined me for tuna tataki. I can no longer eat it anywhere else or I begin to long for guus tuna tataki with deliciously grilled chunks of fish with a light ponzu sauce, slices of onion and garlic chunks. Put together it's absolute perfection. It's also ruined me for oyster motoyaki. Guu makes theres with large baked oysters piled on with a cream and cheese top.. yummy!

They also make amazing Chicken karaage which is tender crispy chicken that comes with mayo for dipping. If your looking to fill up faster an udon bowl for two is a good way to fill up fast.

Overall this is one of my favorite places to take friends. The atmosphere is loud (waiters yell out your order to the kitchen) and the staff are always yelling a big hello or thank you to incoming and outgoing guests in Japanese. It's pretty fun.

I prefer the seating where you sit on the floor instead of at the bar or long tables.

Either way it's a must try!!

“Great atmospheric restaurant”
Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

This is a ripping lot atmospheric, authentic, Japanese restaurant. I've travelled through Japan numerous times and eaten in many Japanese restaurants besides, and this may just be my favourite. Why? The noise. It's place pumps! If you're looking for a quiet place to sit and quietly chat with your partner or friends, this ain't it. But if you want a noisy bustling energetic exciting dining experience that you feel like you're sharing with everyone else in the room, this is your spot. And the food was fantastic, and the service was super fast and friendly despite the restaurant being full. We did a drop in at about 6pm on a Saturday night and got a table straight away - 10 mins later we would have had to wait. You can book though. Highly recommended.
