We ate there for breakfast. The outside is nothing to rave about, the seating area is rather small, but the interior ambiance of the place is unique, with photos of celebrities covering the walls. We were there early on Canada Day, so the place was not crowded. Our friendly waiter had the time to chat and tell us a little about Vancouver. Our french toast was delicious.

This local secret is a unique experience to say the least. Prepare to be insulted and abused by the entertaining staff while they dish out some of the best comfort food and breakfasts in the city. Introducing friends and out of town visitors to the Elbow Room for the first time is always good for a laugh that won't soon be forgotten. This place is often packed solid with a line, so get there early and on a weekend be prepared to wait for a while - but it's worth it.

TIP: Eggs Benny, all the way, don't miss out!

Good banter, good food and an enjoyable breakfast to set us up for our first day in Vancouver. Worth a visit if you're hungry and in the neighbourhood.

As a party of eight, one of whom was a one year old, we were all very, very satisfied with our food. We had a fantastic luncheon, all of us and they were huge meals except the grilled cheese selection, but luckily the quesadilla was so large that Bob helped his wife to finish her meal and was satisfied. Important, because one of the expectations of the restaurant is to finish your meal! They serve three different cans of beer and apparently a decent mimosa.

The experience: Upon greeting us, our server, Peter immediately let loose with a ris·qué sense of humour and we were taken aback at first as all but one of us knew that this is part of the experience of the Elbow Room Cafe. He kept us laughing but left us to enjoy our lovely luncheon. That part of the experience may not be for everyone, but it is unique.

Would we return? Most definitely! I recommend it!

This was a fun experience. The breakfast was amazing and had huge portions. Make sure to finish your food, though or you'll get a good roasting.
