...but we didn't have to wait long and it had just been written up in the Best of edition of the Georgia Straight AND it was Friday night, so we expected it to be busy.
We ordered chicken in thick red curry, the broccoli in garlic sauce and Crying Tiger beef...all was super-flavourful and brought to us with a smile.
The only very small thing that was negative was we asked for the chicked curry to be "hot" and it barely had any heat to it at all. My husband figured they may have been afraid to make it too hot, so they held back...I figure if you ask for it hot, you should be feeling it; esecially a curry (to be fair, I don't think it is uncommon for restuarants to tone down the spicy for patrons because they're afraid it will be sent back for being too spicy; plus, it's easier to add spice than to take it away). It was still a very delicious dish regardless...we just might make a point next time to tell them we want it actually spicy!
The Crying Tiger beef had some great spice to it and everything was so nice with the coconut rice! Sawasdee is definitely a fave for us as far as Thai restaurants go!
