Walking into the Raincity Grill was inviting with fresh white linen tablecloths, open, airy, fresh flowers, artwork and a fabulous view of English Bay. The front side of the restaurant facing Denman Street was perfect for people watching. We were promptly greeted and seated to the table of our choice. Our server was so pleasant, warm and very professional in serving us. We went there for breakfast starting with Mimosa’s and were treated to an appetizer of mini scones (light and fluffy) with a demi cup of hot apple cider “Gratis”. We thoroughly enjoyed the presentation of food, the quality and stellar service. We enjoyed the Dungeness Crab and Chive Omelette and the English Bay Breakfast. Their menu is a tribute to the local farmers, fisherman and producers of British Columbia. Although we were taken back by the statues at English Bay we saw out the window “Laughing Men”, it was a great conversational piece and made us laugh. Raincity’s menu was a little pricey, but deservedly so with the quality of food, stellar service, an awesome view and environment which gave us an experience to remember. Definitely a restaurant to check out.

Followed the rules for ordering a table with a Groupon voucher. Booking accepted (and 'admitted' to having a Groupon) for 7pm Sunday 4th March (our anniversary). Got a call from Raincity after 5pm to say that the booking had been taken in error and that they were cancelling our table and advised that we could use our Groupon next week. BS. Trying to get a refund on the Groupon now and under the impression that profit is now a far superior priority for Raincity and the team than customer service. Good luck with that.

Best Caesar anywhere, hot off the grill. Wines are limited to local, which is the only negative thing about this great restaurant

We hadn't been to the Raincity Grill for a few years, so we decided to take advantage of a recent Groupon offer to reacquaint ourselves. We went on a Tuesday evening, and were happy to see that restaurant was moderately busy- a good sign mid-week. Our coupon was for an eight course tasting menu, and our server, Mark, was happy to modify the menu, replacing the red meat courses with something more suitable for us.
We were already familiar with the outstanding wine selection for which the restaurant is known, so we opted for the wine pairings. Each course was presented and described beautifully, and served along with a wine from BC or Washington that matched the flavours of the course with near perfection.
It takes a while to consume eight courses and the accompanying wine selection, especially when savouring every bite. Our dining experience took well over two hours, but was enjoyable from beginning to end. Mark is an exceptional server, and provided a thorough and highly entertaining description of each course and each wine served.
In summary, the food is exceptional, the wine equally good, and in warmer weather, a seat on the patio affords an amazing view and terrific people watching. Enjoy!
