If you go for dim sum (which is excellent), try and get there just before noon when they get swamped.....They make the best Singapore Noodle dish in Canada and their shrimp dumplings are delicious!!

Third and last visit ever to Kirin at City Square last night. Not only did our did it take our server well over half and hour to take our order, our dinner did not arrive for another hour after that. We asked for two bowls of rice while we were waiting (for the kids at the table) and had to ask five different people over the next 40 minutes before any arrived. When our order was finally placed on the table one dish that was supposed to be black cod arrived with squid only & no cod (never would have ordered that) and an eggplant/tofu dish we ordered specifying NO Mushrooms came loaded with mushrooms. Variety of dishes but all had a very similar taste. We are sorry Shanghai Bistro has closed downtown, it was very good. This is Vancouver...where is the great Chinese food...it is also NOT at Sun Sui Wah ..it might be good for dim sum but dinner there is AWFUL as well

Had lunch here during my recent visit to Vancouver. Very good dim sum. Service was okay. Price was reasonable. Easy parking in underground and the restaurant validate your ticket for free parking.

We were looking for good dim sum and had heard that Kirin was the place to go. We went to the Vancouver location, which was convenient after biking at Stanley Park. Our party included 4 adults and our 8 month old grandson. Upon arrival, we were greeted rather coolly and I don't think the hostess was thrilled about the baby, although there were many other large family groups dining. After being seated relatively quickly, we sat for at least 15 minutes before we saw a waiter. It took another 15-20 minutes to get our first dim sum appetizer, then another 10 minutes for the next appetizer, then another 10 minutes, and that is how it went. We were always getting little tastes, and then waiting forever for the rest of our meal, which was very unsatisfying. Service was very slow and unorganized, and our waiter seemed to have no personality whatsoever. (We have had excellent dim sum in San Francisco, with great food and quick and attentive service). Pros: The appetizers we had were tasty. Cons: Poor service. Slow. Expensive. The verdict? I would try a different restaurant for dim sum.

We were at Kirin last night at the recommendation of an expensive hotel and had our worst meal in many years! This place was horribly busy with people from tourist busses and conventioneers. It took over an hour to get our food after the appetizers were finished and the dishes were really bad: burnt beef tenderloin and spicy veggies and nearly spoiled yellow fish schezwan style. Different waiters came to our table 3 separate times to ask what we ordered before our food arrived. The beef was carbonized solid and tasted like charcoal (Which the waiter claimed was the style of the dish!). We could not keep the fish plate on the table because it smelled so strong with bad taste. Don't go here! There must be better places to go. I almost lost my meal on the walk back to the hotel. Yuk!
