We stayed at the Westin Bayshore and walked to Joe Forte's. The ambiance is a little like the Keg, loud, but still comfortable. The wait staff was second to none, We had a variety of seafood between 5 of us, various fish, lobster, crab, scallops, they were all to die for!!! Piano player steady on the mood music, Drinks were made to perfection, but the one thing that stood way out was the appitizer they bring, the old italian trick of olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip. This establishment goes one step further on that note, they have an oil that is infused with lobster, the lobster infused oil and balsamic could cause a fight if you are a sea food nut. Good thing was also they tell you about the oil and you can purchase a bottle right there. I did, and its almost gone. Mmmmmmmm A must for at least one visit when your in town.

Our work group was looking for a good place to have a good lunch. We went to Joe Fortes and wanted to see if the high quality standards of the restaurant was maintained after the change in ownership from Kanke Group to the Hy's Group.

Yes... it was! Go for the seafood. Halibut, fish and chips, scallops, clams are all good.

The service standards were at its usual best.

This restaurant was recommended by our concierge. The high ceilings made it feel light and airy.

We had ine of the tables for two along the back wall, but were not annoyed by anyone else's conversations much.....but not the spot to sit for a romantic dinner a deux.....

Being European, we knew portion sizes would be big, so skipped bread and starters. I had the fish and chips with a couple of prawns on the side, my companion the filet mignon and half lobster. He raved about the steak, which he had ordered rare. The lobster also looked moist.

My battered fish was perfect. Indeed i would have liked more fish and less chips, as the latter filled the bottom of the plate! The prawns too were perfect. My only small gripe was that the tartare sauce was more like a bearnaise, so I didn't eat that.

We were tempted by dessert, and shared the sinful chocolate cake. Sponge was moist, and the cream icing not sickly sweet.

Excellent wine selection.

Service was great.

Would go back.

I have to say this is one of the best restaurants we went to in Vancouver it was also very convenient because it was close to the Sheraton where we stayed downtown. The only thing was it was very crowded but I soon found out why. The foor was excellent and as for freshness you can't beat it. So go and enjoy, and since you are so close you should take a cruise to Alaska.

We called in here for dinner and were pleased that we did. We were seated upstairs and could listen to the live piano which created a great atmosphere. The service was very good and the staff all very friendly and helpful. The food was good and the portions huge - I had fried oysters to start and there were 6 of them and they were huge and very tasty. The lobster oil provided for dipping bread was so delicious we nearly bought a bottle (only the fear of a suitcase breakage an the ensuing mess dissuaded us). All in all very good.
