“Great view, good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

We ate here in late July. Had a table on the dock area, so great view. The weather was wonderful, so nice to sit outside in the sun with a little breeze.

We had the halibut and chips. Halibut was perfectly cooked, chips were very good.

Pricey, but what do you expect in a waterfront restaurant on Granville Island in Vancouver.

“service beyond slow ... worst ever expereince”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

On Monday August 5th my husband and I met with friends at Dockside for a quick bite and a few glasses of wine. Our friends were seated at the table with drinks when we joined them. Despite numerous attempts it took over 15 minutes for us to get the waiters attention and another 10 plus before we got a menu. My husband ordered a beer which came shortly there after. I waited at least another 25 minutes for a glass of wine. Not once during our visit did I have my water glass refilled despite being a very hot day on the patio. Thankfully I had brought a bottle of water and used it to fill my glass as it sat empty for over one hour.
The food is ok but nothing special. The patio is great but there are many more places along the Sea wall where you get great views, nice patios and FAR BETTER SERVICE.

We left Dockside and hopped on the little ferry to the other side of false creek. We stopped at TEN TEN Tappas where we had a great view and experienced EXCEPTIONAL Service.......

As a result of the horrible service at Dockside I will suggest that when friend and business acquaintances want to meet - we go somewhere else....

“Started Out Poorly But Worked Out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

We went to the Dockside Restaurant located in the Grandville Island Hotel on Grandville Island at the suggestion of our hotel concierge. We were seated on the patio with a great view of the marina on False Creek Harbor (until a group of about 8 people having drinks stood on the seawall in front of us blocking out any view, fortunately they left after bout 20 minutes). We ordered drinks and were a little underwhelmed with the size of the drinks. The waiter informed us that they were the standard pour but were in larger glasses. We suggested that maybe the management should look at a different size glass but the waiter seemed unconcerned and basically said something to the effect of "hey, it's no sweat off my back". We also noticed that a bread basket was not provided but could be ordered for a fee. Basically everything was ala carte. We thought about leaving after drinks but decided to stay to try the food as it was recommended to us by the hotel. We were glad we stayed as the food was very good. We had the Salmon Penne (a lot of penne and small pieces of salmon but a good taste), Mushroom Ravioli (nice pieces of mushroom (not minced up) in a nice sauce, very tasty), Sable Fish (a flakey mild fish, well prepared) and Salmon (grilled and seasoned). The portions were not large but satisfied a normal appetite. We also ordered salads which were very good but not exceptional. The waiter had an about face from our initial encounter and was very friendly and engaging and attentive to our needs, stopping by several times to make sure everything was fine. We had dessert lemon torte and Paris Bress which were very good. The prices are a little higher but the food is good and the service turned out to be very good (maybe our waiter had a difficult customer before us and thought we were going to be the same). Try to get a reservation, weather permitting ask for outdoor seating as close to the water as possible. We all agreed we would return to this restaurant again, keeping in mind prices.

“Always consistent quality, service and beautiful view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

This is one of our favourite places. We most often are there for brunch. We have had wonderful dinners as well. We have been with friends or with our grand kids. Each occasion we have gone away talking about our meal and service. Presentation is excellent.

Above all that is this astounding view of the inlet and city. You can see 180 degrees of boats, water, building and people. Whether daylight or dark you will be drawn by the beauty of it.

This is in our mind one of the nicest locations in the city and consistent on all counts. You can have a relaxing time and follow it with an easy walk in either direction on the shores of False Creek.

If you visiting put it on your list. Either as a special occasion or combined with a visit to Granville Island. You won't be disappointed. Make a reservation.

“Fantastic Food - Fastastic location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

We had another fabulous meal at Dockside. Since our last visit to Vancouver a few years ago, they added stunning glassed-in fire pits and dramatic lighting. The seating is very comfortable and because it is right on False Creek, there is a beautiful view of the harbour and sail boats. We all had a fresh salad of spinach and goat cheese, strawberries and nuts. Dockside chefs know how to cook fish. We had the Sable (Black Cod) and Salmon. They were perfectly seasoned and accented not detracting from the lovely flavours of the fish. The lemon tart had just the right balance between tart and sweet. It was piled high with soft delicious baked meringue. Our server was well informed about the menu items as well as the wines. She was very friendly and helpful.
