“Seafood, view and more.”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Located in Coal Harbor next to Stanley Park. Your view is the marina silhouetted by the harbor and the mountains beyond. The service is excellent, our waitress knew the finer points of the menu and also mentioned the staff taste tests new selections for advice. Great drinks, cocktails and local brews. The raw oysters were sweet and delicious. The cedar plank salmon was very good but the special sockeye was a knock out. My wife found the chicken had a sauce that was a bit overbearing but still ate most of it. Live music at 8:30. Do call for a reservation, it seemed to be packed early and late. Great time, great food.

“disappointing wok squid”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

I have been frequenting both Cardero;s and its sister restaurant Sandbar for many years..... i was addicted to the wok squid, and for me, it defined everything else that is served at the restaurants. Today i had it at Carderos after much anticipation, and i was extremely disappointed. It was crunchy with some weird coating on it.. more deep fried than wok fried??? it was so awful that i didnt finish it. Also, i had the fish tacos... not good. not fresh and juicy... but just some kind of thousand island mayo on some grilled fish??? NOT BAHA-stye at all! Of course, both places could rest on their laurels in terms of an amazing views and wonderful staff. Please dont,... just fix your squid issue. I should have sent it back at the table......

“Nice location, varied menu, good service”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

The whole family visited for a late lunch. We all left extremely satisfied. The flatbread appetizer was very tasty (if simple an typical but well executed). We all ordered soup, both types or chowder and both delicious (the Boston was the daily special and even better than the one always on the menu). Afterwards we had salmon, pork chop, noodles, halibut and scallops as main courses. As you can tell from what we ordered the menu is quite extensive with lots of different offerings. I personally like when you can't make a choice since lots of things seem attractive.
Salmon was perfectly cooked and fresh, the reduction and rice it came with went perfect with the fish. The scallops were cooked to the exact point ( I find restaurants to have problems with cooking scallops right) and they were fresh and very sweet. The pork chop was super tender and the anise demi glacé was incredible as was the mashed potatoes. Believe me I had bites of everything since this was a big family gathering. We had a good BC white wine the server recommended to go with all.
My only "disappointment" was the dessert menu, all were a bit uninviting and generic. We shared the brownie and it was good, no real complaints just really the low point in the offerings (creme brûlée, chocolate cake, brownie, sorbets).
Service was very attentive and made a tremendous effort to help us. Kudos for that since we got here around 330 pm for lunch and she was pretty much all by herself with no other staff helping. Kitchen service was perhaps a bit slow, but really only our 7 year old had a problem with that. Slow is expected when going to restaurants at awkward times though. By the time we left plenty more staff was there and all hustling for dinner time.
All in all I would recommend this place to anyone. Btw, location is magnificent.

“Bay views can't be beat!”
Reviewed July 18, 2013 via mobile

Good fresh seafood menu.

Enjoyed views, drinks, apps and dinner here. Would definitely go back, but only if a window or patio table available. Directly across from Westin.

Service was prompt. Kitchen accommodating.

Wish I'd been able to try some additional menu items. As we walked out. The kitchen window/prep area had some great options coming out.

Restaurant is very busy and consequently loud.
