“Always a pleasure at Steamworks”
Reviewed October 4, 2011

When we visit Vancouver, we always go to Steamworks for a drink and a bite. The beer is excellent and the chickenwings are at the same level. We enjoy looking at people here and being part of the busy atmosphere here. The service is always very good and prices are lower than one would expect at a place like this in the heart of the tourism at Vancouver.

“Stick to drinking here, don't go for steaks etc.”
Reviewed September 27, 2011

We all ate Steak and Prawns - all overcooked.
Sauce was extra, and it was terrible. $50/person for steak and wine, and the food wasn't even average. Prawns tasted of no seasoning at all, and again, the steaks were all very overcooked. They changed the steaks, and then overcooked them again - slight improvement the second time; instead of well done it was medium-well, but medium-rare was the order. Waitress was very nice, and so is the patio, but don't order anything expensive or that requires an ounce of skill to prepare.

“Lively Atmosphere”
Reviewed August 29, 2011

This is a large eating house connected to the brewery. We visited as the Canucks were in the middle of the play-offs. Very lively. Service quick and friendly. Food (burger and fries) was tasty and beer very good. Queues outside the door were an indication of popularity.

“Very Good”
Reviewed July 11, 2011

Food was casual and very good. Reasonably priced for being in such a tourist-y area. Service was excellent. Would take a pass on the beer.

“Ask for the sampler and try the wings!”
Reviewed May 17, 2011

A colleague and I visited the Steamworks for drinks during a business trip. We arrived around 8:30pm. The place was busy for a weeknight, but we were shown to a comfortable table for two. I was pleased to see the seating wasn't too cramped. If you sit in the back, you get a lovely view of the harbour. I had some difficulty choosing a beer, so I asked if they offered a sampler (there wasn't one on the menu). The waitress confirmed they did. It's about 14$ and is the equivilant of approximately 2 beers. When it comes, they put a placemat down with circles for the mini pint glasses and each is labled, so you know what you're drinking. Be prepared to be the envy of other patrons, as they crane their necks and gawk with curiousity at your display of 8-10 l'il glasses of beer. The waitress said the sampler isn't on the menu because they have a finite number of glasses. She also said whenever someone orders one, everyone else wants one as well. I really enjoyed the sampler and my colleague enjoyed his pale ale. We each ordered a plate of wings and they were delicious - not all goopy or sticky but nicely flavoured and tender. The sampler and wings cost me 30$ with tip, which I found to be reasonable. Service was prompt and the atmosphere was laid back and typically pub-like. Highly recommend.
