It is huge, a city unto itself, bookstore and coffee shop, their own beach, great anthropology museum. Only bad part is so big hard to see it all

I'm very impressed with this university as not only it's one of the better ones academically, but the surroundings are beautiful too. World ranking by reputation, UBC is placed 31 and by the Times Higher Education World University rankings 2012 - 2013, it's placed 30.
Visit the Spanish banks beach, it has a nice view of downtown Vancouver and Wreck beach, where you have to be naked here! There's also the Museum of Anthropology if you're interested in research and collections. Visit the Chung Collection exhibition at the UBC Library to learn about the early BC history, immigration and settlement, and the Canadian Pacific Railway - it's free admission.
UBC has so much to offer and see. I'm very happy my son chose to come here to study!
A Place Of Mind - University of British Columbia!

We went to the Japanese garden which was small but lovely. And the Arboretum was really worth the visit. Would recommend returning back to the US via this Univ. route...

This university is as diverse in its offerings in education as it is those who attend from around the world and offers something for everyone. Universities are not usually a number one on my tourist destination spots but UBC has some unbelievable views and things to see on top of being one of the leading universities in the world of sustainability. There is the CIRS (green building- Sustainable building) which is a leader in this category with free tours available for you to see this wonderful "living building" if you have some time in your visit to Vancouver simply a drive around the campus or better yet a walk will be worth while if you have the time.

This is not a highlight if you are tourists that want to pocket attractions so that you can say "been there done that". But, if you want to see and understand why people love living in Vancouver, I can't think of a better place to define why I love this city. The space is beautiful and people are vibrant. It is like a city within a city. Park the car, take the bus, rent a bike and walk the grounds.
UBC's sweeping view at Point Grey shows why we can sail and ski all in the same day. Hang out in Pacific Spirit Park for your desire to get back to nature. Hang out at the MOA or Beaty Biodiversity Museum or head to a lecture for mindful stimulation. There's an eclectic group of people that live, work and visit here and just like in rest of Vancouver...it's a great place to be at.
