Owner description: This expansive beach offers fantastic picnicking opportunities, swimming, beach volleyball, or simply a panoramic view of Vancouver and the mountains. Spanish Banks tends to be a quieter beach which makes it very family-friendly.

To avoid the normal weekend crowds (I avoid overcrowded places as much as possible), so we took the kids there to play on the beach and walk out into the tidal flats during low tide on a weekday afternoon instead. Lots of parking and had much of the beach almost to ourselves. Only a handful of other cars in the parking lot, unlike on weekends when they are full to overflowing. Nice place to go for a walk on the beach without leaving the city. The kids loved walking way out and looking for little crabs, baby flounders and other tiny fish. Fun day overall.

The beach itself was beautiful and clean and great for families! The view is spectacular with the mountains as a great back drop behind the kids while playing. However, the parking was horrendous? My husband did not even end up staying with us. He just dropped us off and came back a few hours later. Thankfully it was not a long drive from where we were staying at False Creek.

Go there 3 to 4 times a week. Of course it's the view - great for running, walking and biking all year round!

This beach is very secluded and has great views (mountains to the West and Vancouver skyline to the East). This was my favorite stop in all of Vancouver. Awesome place to watch the sunset.

Lovely beach and path for walking in all seasons. Summer sunsets and fireworks and BBQ's and picnics. Dog and people watching abounds! Winter brings misty calm for running and contemplation! Make sure you take a photo by the anchor - during WWII this waterfront was on high alert but now it's a source of peaceful fun thanks to greatVancouver planning!!
