Owner description: This expansive beach offers fantastic picnicking opportunities, swimming, beach volleyball, or simply a panoramic view of Vancouver and the mountains. Spanish Banks tends to be a quieter beach which makes it very family-friendly.

“Great beach, great view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

If you want an urban beach experience without it being the Kits Beach version, Spanish Banks is a great choice. We arrived at low tide, which gave the kids fun exploration time. There were several life guards on the beach, bringing people in as the tide came in, and it wasn't overly busy for a super hot day. Highly recommend checking it out as a local or tourist for a splash of Vancouver's salt and sand. End the day with a cupcake on Broadway or local diner.

A wonderful beach park with great views of the City and North Shore. A great place to spend a summer day at the beach!

“brilliant views!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2012

Forests and mountains are my idea of beauty, and the view from this beach is unbeatable. It's huge, so there's tons of room to spread out. I also love the giant logs spread around the beach to prop yourself up on or provide some shade. They also clean the beach very well, so it's not full of garbage and glass.

“Best beach in Vancouver to tan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012

Awesome scenery of the mountains and water - this is the beach of my choice.

While it's not the best spot for people watching (Kits tops all beaches for that), this is the choice for having a quieter afternoon if you're looking to tan and not swim through crowds of people walking to the washroom.

A couple of concession stands and lots of volleyball poles are available but come really early if you want a volleyball court (like 9:30am) in the summer.

UBC is only a 5 minute drive up so you can drive by and check out Spanish Banks on your way.

“Great quiet Beach in Vancouver”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2012

We spent the day at the Beach prior to the Fireworks festival. Spanish Banks had a great swimming area for the kids, and the logs were wonderul to get some shade or to sit on. Lots of parking and nice walking trails, washrooms, good people. Nice way to spend a sunny day without being too crowded.
