If you want an urban beach experience without it being the Kits Beach version, Spanish Banks is a great choice. We arrived at low tide, which gave the kids fun exploration time. There were several life guards on the beach, bringing people in as the tide came in, and it wasn't overly busy for a super hot day. Highly recommend checking it out as a local or tourist for a splash of Vancouver's salt and sand. End the day with a cupcake on Broadway or local diner.
