Owner description: Playland is part of the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) fairgrounds in Vancouver and is BC’s most famous amusement park. Playland features exhilarating rides and attractions for all ages, exciting midway games, mini-golf, a climbing wall, haunted mansion and a variety of delicious food. Playland offers over 35 rides and attractions, including four exciting roller coasters. One of the most loved and talked about attractions at Playland is the historic Wooden Roller Coaster. This spectacular coaster has been operating at the park since 1958 and is cited as a “Coaster Classic” by the American Coaster Enthusiasts organization, which is an honour shared by only 22 other wooden coasters in the world. For the more adventurous visitors, Playland offers 15 extreme rides and attractions including the extreme swing ride Atmosfear, which takes you up 218 feet while spinning 70km/hour and The Beast, cited as Canada’s most extreme pendulum ride. For those looking to experience a bit of thrill with the entire family, Playland features 17 family and kids rides including three new family rides for 2016, a spinning coaster, Bug Whirled, a peddle operated ride, Flutterbye and a tower, Dizzy Drop. For those hoping to capture amazing views of Vancouver, the Westcoast Wheel ferris wheel will provide just that! Of course, a visit to Playland is not complete without a ride on the historic Wooden Roller Coaster. Unique to Playland is Kids Playce, an area designated for parents and families with children between the ages of 2-10. Kids Playce provides the perfect setting for families looking to spend some time together in a clean, safe and kid-friendly environment. Bring your friends and family out to Playland for a full day of fun! Playland is open from May 6 to September 17.

Overpriced, long lines, and they shut the rides and haunted houses down 30-40min early before closing time. Haunted houses were lame this year and they had no characters walking around. Will never go back. Waste of money.

Horrible. Playland in the summer is tons of fun but Fright Nights during the halloween season is not. They allow thousands of people into the park which makes it so you can only squeeze in maybe 1-2 attractions before closing. I spent probably 4 hours in line at the gate getting searched and 1 line ride until the park closed. They have a new Fast Pass feature this year which is disgusting, it allows you to skip the lineup and go ahead but problem is, it costs 50$ and should not be an option as most other theme parks pride themselves on small lineups. I was also turned away from one of the attractions because they said their were too many Fast Pass people i the lineup and they were a priority! I will never be going here again.

A big thumbs down to Playland....

I took my 6 & 8 year old kids today with their 1 day ride passes (a birthday gift from their aunt) & was shocked when we were told I had to pay for a guardian pass; $18.50 so I could enter to supervise my kids.

When I jokingly suggested I just leave them there & save the money, the girl at the entrance office asked if I wanted to do just that.
So let's see, they are fine with having little kids running around unsupervised & are basically discouraging families from bringing along Grandma or Grandpa (unless they're over 65 when they're actually allowed free admission) from coming to watch & help make sure the kids are safe.

I was curious about Playland’s policy to charge parents or guardians who could not go on any rides so I asked an obviously pregnant lady if she’d been charged the guardian fee & sure enough she had to pay it. Yet most of the rides have clear signs stating that people should not participate if they are pregnant, have a heart condition, etc.

Playland should return to their policy of using stamps (of armbands) to clearly identify who has paid for rides & who has not.

So, $10 for parking, ride passes for the kids (about $50 for the 2 of them) + $18:50 for a guardian pass (even though I was not interested in going on any rides) + lunch at White Spot (2 combos = $27) + $10 for the 2 kids to play one round of mini-golf = JUST TOO EXPENSIVE!!!

And finally, long line-ups for almost every ride just makes me wonder if a day at a free playground just isn't a much better idea...

We spent about 5 hours at the park on a Friday - got there early and left when it started to get hot and the line-ups started getting long. Hardly any waits for rides up til then, and our family got to repeat some of our favourite rides, several times for a few! Several games and food stalls were closed in preperation for the PNE, but all else was good :)
