A lot of locals know that this is the nude beach. The people who hang out there are all polite and friendly. There are a LOT of stairs going down to this beach so it keeps out the riff raff for the most part.

Wreck Beach is a popular clothing-optional beach. You can access to this beach with trails and it has about 500 stairs, so don't forget to bring water.

Wreck Beach is located in the UBC Endowment Lands. The trails are very picturesque and the forests are lush with foliage and some very large trees. The trail is well built and very safe. The main beach is very sandy and the water was quite warm. It would have been perfect, if not for all the cigarette and marijuana smokers stinking up the air and leaving the beach strewn with hundreds of cigarette butts, in flagrant disregard for the NO SMOKING signs posted. I had to move several times due to inconsiderate smokers. The outdoor bathrooms were filthy, had a foul stench and obviously were not regularly maintained. There were some rowdy, intoxicated people shouting and howling, which also disturbed the peace.

Wreck Beach is clothing optional! We've been here a few times, and each time there are plenty of nude people. Keep your cameras to yourselves!

There's a paid parking lot a short walk from the "entrance" of the beach (top of the stairs).

Be prepared for approx. 450 steps one way... it's a bit tougher going back up than it is going down!

Very relaxing atmosphere - lots of big logs to lean against, and drape your towels over making for a comfortable sort of seating area.
People had small portable radios, but was generally a pretty quiet, relaxing beach. Vendors along the back of the beach selling clothes, crafts, and food made for a unique beach experience.

You could definitely spend a day here!

Only started to come here recently ... And I don't know why it took me so long ! It's a "clothing optional" beach, not a nudist beach - there is no pressure to go naked ! Everyone can come here - young, old and even families. The vendors and people are very friendly, they keep an eye out for people causing trouble, etc . It's a pretty steep walk down to the beach so be careful of that !

TIP: Only take pictures OF YOURSELF. Do not take pictures of the whole beach etc. There are signs indicating this. Don't take pictures from the stairs either.
