Wreck Beach is at the base of cliffs facing in every direction around the University of BC, and accessible only via a steep but well-maintained trail. There are eagles, heron, and even the occasional otter, as there are no vehicles, and forest and marshlands support the wildlife. It is best visited in poor weather if you seek to commune with nature, and best visited on sunny days in summer if you seek to commune with naturists (nudists for the uninitiated). On a hot summer's day, thousands descend upon the beaches for the sun, the surf, the views and the music. This is a safe place regularly serviced by police and if needed by the Coast Guard in case of injury. There are also small food vendors aplenty. No photos of naturists allowed...

Saw 2013 Wreck Beach Run. Participants were running to raise money to better the facilities at the beach, and it was quite a sight!!! Coming from an Asian culture, my friend was not comfortable seeing the naked bodies, but still it's something you've got to see at least once in your life.

You have not seen all Vancouver has to offer until you've enjoyed a day at Wreck beach (summer....yes). Located near UBC on the tip of the land, the scenery is amazing. The beach has incredible life and activity. If you've never been to a clothing optional beach before then then this is a great beach to start with. You'll see every form of clothing optional.

Spent an entire day there in early July, 2013. In fact it was my last full vacation day in Vancouver before flying to Toronto for a few days, then back home. It was also the only day for which the weather was awesome. Took lots of photos of the area including a Great Blue Heron grazing around the waters. Lots of amenities including food stands, small beach stores and friendly beachgoers!

I have so many amazing memories from this beach. Yes it's a nude beach, if you go in the summer you will probably see bodies of all shapes and sizes, but if anything it's a positive reminder that we're just people with bodies!
Once you've got over the naked people it is truly one of the most beautiful Canadian beaches! Gorgeous views, very calm atmosphere during quiet times and during the summer a very fun, lively place to go with friends and also a great place to make some new ones! There are guys selling margaritas and beers discretely along the beach in the summer and the last few times I was there there were naked people serving up very tasty burgers and fries!
