On your way by taxi / limousine / coach from airport into Vancouver you will pass Shaunessy Heights where the houses start at $5 million CAD. The majority on the main road are a little less costly and many have a row of pretty cypress trees across the frontage to aid privacy and to absorb noise.
Downtown Vancouver contains Stanley Park, lots of super hotels (including the Fairmont Waterfront; Westin Bayshore and several other five star hotels). The architecture is pleasing on the eye (well mine anyway) and construction is mainly pale grey in colour. There's a hotel with a tree growing on the roof to demonstrate the height of all the trees prior to the development of Downtown Vancouver.
The Sky Train is also located here. There are several shops within the station and a restaurant. Everything here us clearly signposted.
Oh, do not leave your car engine running because after five minutes of doing so, the police will hand you a $250 on the spot fine.
Vancouver actively encourages recycling with a recycling bin in your hotel room plus sets of three bins within metal frames for recycling / recycling / waste. Wish we did this here in England.
