On your way by taxi / limousine / coach from airport into Vancouver you will pass Shaunessy Heights where the houses start at $5 million CAD. The majority on the main road are a little less costly and many have a row of pretty cypress trees across the frontage to aid privacy and to absorb noise.

Downtown Vancouver contains Stanley Park, lots of super hotels (including the Fairmont Waterfront; Westin Bayshore and several other five star hotels). The architecture is pleasing on the eye (well mine anyway) and construction is mainly pale grey in colour. There's a hotel with a tree growing on the roof to demonstrate the height of all the trees prior to the development of Downtown Vancouver.

The Sky Train is also located here. There are several shops within the station and a restaurant. Everything here us clearly signposted.

Oh, do not leave your car engine running because after five minutes of doing so, the police will hand you a $250 on the spot fine.

Vancouver actively encourages recycling with a recycling bin in your hotel room plus sets of three bins within metal frames for recycling / recycling / waste. Wish we did this here in England.

We hired Viator Tours to pick us up at our hotel and they took us to the ferry & toured us through Victoria to see area and dropped us off at Buchard Gardens. Then picked us up at a specified time and we continued our tour. He dropped us off for some shopping time & lunch and again met us at a specific time & spot. A very enjoyable day..

Loads of shops of all sorts, so many restaurants of all nationalities you do not need to go to Chinatown.

Lovely for a mooch around and void. But be warned. Vancouver seemingly has a high ratio of homeless/meth addicts. You can be on a glorious street and turn left or right into another block & there is a total difference in people and places. I was genuinely surprised by this situation and it. An naked you feel very uncomfortable very quickly especially as taxis seem to abound the area too!

Full of life and people. The shopping is good the overall experience positive. On the negative side, a lot of construction works, and the streets are not always clean as you could expect. But we were there in August, summertime and high season.
