I walked by The Shack looking for an easy late dinner spot around 8:30 pm, during a recent Vancouver visit, it was reasonably full with lots of HDTV's on a Canuck game night. Managed to find a spot at the bar (good location to watch multiple games at one time) and was immediately and pleasantly greeted by a female bar attendant. She was helpful in recommending an Amber beer I hadn't previously heard of (called Gypsy Tears - only $3). I proceeded to order The Big Shack Salad, which was large and chock full of chicken chunks and lots of good veggies, swimming in a variety of lettuces. Delightful except I should have asked for additional salad dressing on the side. The salad dressing as is didn't have quite enough taste for my buds.
Even though my overall experience was pleasant, the place is just an average sports bar/restaurant -- not terribly memorable, but did the trick in terms of eating well, enjoying an interesting pint of beer, being well served and enjoying the Canucks!
Not great, but not bad.
