Non-offensive, non-challenging, family friendly fluff performed outdoors. There is real talent on stage.

During a recent trip to Vancouver, the family attended the TUTS production of "Legally Blonde" and had a wonderful time. While the venue was very good for an outdoor theatre (i.e.great site lines throughout from plastic lawn chair seating and very good sound quality from an amplified stage), the quality of the production was first rate. The Stanley Park location can't be beat, but parking was a hassle. To combat this, I would suggest arriving very early to secure a space, or use an alternate mode such as taxi or bike (there are several bike rental locations on Denman Street and the safe ride from there to TUTS is less than 10-15 minutes). Concessions are available prior to the production and during intermission, but many people brought their own snacks to enjoy during the performance. With the right play/musical, this is great for families, but certain productions would be perfect for a date night. We will most certainly go back if we're in Vancouver for a summer

We recently saw "How To Succeed In Business..." at TUTS and were very impressed at the caliber of the talent and production. I was a little hesitant about the 2-1/2 hour length on top of serious jet lag, but this was the fastest and most enjoyable 2-1/2 hours I've spent in a long time! There really isn't a bad seat in the house, nice concession area for intermission refreshments. Being new to Vancouver, we found getting there a little confusing and would have used some better signage in the park to direct us, but once we used phone GPS, we got there and I'm glad we did!

Last night I attended the Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) Stage presentation of the Musical "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying". It was superb, and like always, I enjoyed myself immensely. I have been to them since I was a boy, and this one was one of the best productions I've seen, and since I am a professional actor, I am very critical. (I have NO personal connection to this however) Many of the participants, in front, and Backstage are actually amateur in status but you would not know that from their superb performances. I am also a Vancouver Live Narration Tour Driver and strongly recommend these shows as a great way to spend an evening. They are at the Malkin Bowl Theatre which is outdoors in lovely Stanley Park. I had their catered Salmon Dinner, which wasn't much, but I knew the money was going to a good cause. There is also a good Restaurant there at the Rose Gardens called "Stanleys" which stays open until the show starts. During the show we heard some Eagles making noise, and occasionally a plane or Helicopter went by which doesn't distract from the show really, it enhances the experience. They have a website, and there are even discount coupons for shows from the tourism companies.
