Description: Established as the second location of the Aburi Brand in North America, Minami Restaurant offers a combination of Japanese and West Coast cuisine in a comfortable, rustic atmosphere. Minami presents the Aburi take on red meats and seafood dishes to enjoy with your choice of sake, wine, or specialty cocktail. From intimate gatherings with family and friends to professional corporate events, our welcoming atmosphere with amazing cuisine and impeccable service creates a lasting dining experience. Aburi Sushi is a corporate symbol of our company, enjoyed by local Vancouverites and international travellers alike. Minami is excited to introduce the innovative concept of Aburi Sushi appetizers. This combination of our shari (sushi rice), cooked using a unique traditional method, and our flame searing technique has turned sushi into a truly exciting culinary experience. At Minami, Aburi sushi is best enjoyed as a zensai (appetizer) course and, paired perfectly alongside your favourite beverage, sets the stage for the rest of your Aburi dining experience. Our entrée menu places an emphasis on our beef, poultry, and seafood cuisine. Our dedicated team of chefs perfects our entrées not only by focusing on the protein, but also by pairing it with fresh, seasonal vegetables in order to complement the rich flavour of the meat. We insist that a great entrée must be accompanied by an equally great side. Minami is the sister restaurant of Miku Restaurant.

There's lots of decent, cheap sushi in vancouver but Miku and Minami are neither of those and so much more. Always an incredible meal! The atmosphere is designed to make you feel welcome, staff is super friendly, the food is always incredible flavours with impeccable presentation and a full explanation of each item. The best in town!

“Japanese Yaletown location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

You're escorted to your table with the customary loud Japanese greeting by the staff. It still surprised me though. Minimalist Asian decor, highlighted bamboo poles along one wall and a mural on the opposite. Comfortable tables and chairs for eating and talking.
Staff very friendly, service quick but not rushing.
I had the traditional Sushi plate, 8 pieces, served beautifully and my two friends had the tuna burger. We each had miso soup and green tea, for which there is a charge. Yaletown prices! My lunch was $25.00 plus tip.

“better than tojo's”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

I'm a frequent traveler to Vancouver and have always loved Tojo's. But Minami has taken the top spot. Tasty and inspired dishes, and you'll leave with some loons left in your pocket.

“Tasty Japanese”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

We had a lovely meal here. The food was delicious, the dumplings were beautiful as was the fish and the short rib. The sushi was also better than delicious.
The service, while friendly was really less than average, we were left sitting with no water and no interaction from the staff for almost ten minutes, when she did appear to ask about drink choices she came quickly back and said that wine wasn't available. Still no water but we made another selection which came out wrong. Right brand but I drink Chardonnay not Muscat.
Despite the service, the food was outstanding and it was a fun place to be on a rainy Vancouver evening.

“high end Japanese in Yaletown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

Go for the Aburi sushi- slightly seared on top! Excellent preparation and attention to detail here. Our desserts were especially imaginative. Minami has a very hip feel to it, could be on the verge of trendy, but the food lives up to the setting.
