“Best.”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

These guys know their stuff. They're willing to share all the knowledge of coffee culture you want--- or not. They're not the least bit snobby or too-cool about it. This is my favourite cafe in the city and it's pretty simple as to why: they're friendly, the atmosphere is great, & their coffee is the best I've ever had.

“Best Independent Coffee Shop in Vancouver. Period.”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

This is a brilliant independent coffee shop that carries a wide selection of brands from the top roasters on the West Coast. Because they are independent, you wont see any of the major independent brands like Parallel 49, from Vancouver, or Stumptown, from Portland, but it allows them the flexibility to carry a mix of smaller roasters, like Matchstick and Bows & Arrows from BC, Phil & Sebastian, from Alberta, Heart from Portland and Handsome from Los Angeles.

The biggest downside of the location is its diminutive size. Its crowded all day long, so its not a good place to sit a while and read a book or use your laptop. That said, they appear to have acquired the space next to them which I believe they are currently renovating.

Parting thoughts: go here to buy a great bag of beans to brew at home. Also, try the drip coffee (usually prepared in a Chemex with an Able Brewing Kone) instead of your usual latte. The beans they use are great, and the coffee is so much more expressive without milk or sugar. The price for a cup may be a bit high ($3.50-4.50), but they feature a coffee every day which is only $3.00 (or $3.50, I forget).

“Mixed reviews”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

My husband loved his coffee, and I hated mine. I couldn't even finish it. It was really bitter. He and I were sharing a small carafe, though, so maybe it's just my tastebuds. Cool environment, although super hipster. Nice to hang with the younger crowd and watch them being super cool, though.
Overall, I say you should try it for yourself.
