“Delish!”

Great atmosphere, beautiful location, yummy food, decent price. Located in gas town, with a lovely patio and really beautifully presented food for the price. Judging by the location and aesthetics we were expecting higher priced food but it was pretty standard pricing for any pub/grill we've seen.

“Food okay, but incredibly slow service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

The food we had was fine, but whatever positive comments the food might evoke were overcome by the slow and inattentive service. There are a lot of other choices around that you might want to try first.

“A hard day's night!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

At least would have been if we had ordered a full meal. It took more than an hour to get a simple salmon salad lunch ... after a completely baffling explanation over the $9.95 special board. It did not have the slightest ring of truth to it. Cute idea to serve it in bedpans which meant that most of the salad items dropped to the bottom, completely hidden by the lettuce. The food wasn't bad, however, though it then took another eternity to pay. And yes, folks, we did get the 20 per cent discount.

“Don't Be Fooled”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013 via mobile

The Lamplighter is a beautiful restaurant inside and out. We were drawn to the outside seating area and good lunch specials. However, we ended up waiting a very long time for our food. My husband didn't seem too disappointed with his fish and chips. My salad with salmon was overcooked. Honestly, I'm not even sure it was salmon; it didn't have a hint of pink to it. The rest of the salad was mediocre at best. The dressing was supposed to be a lemon dill vinegarette; I didn't taste either of those ingredients. I'm not one to complain however we were staying in the Davie Village and had one spectacular meal after another.

“Terrible service and attitude of staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2013

After a long 1 hour and 45 minute wait for two salads and some yam fries we decided to politely ask the service stewardess if our food was going to be coming soon, as we were on our way to meet friends. Three other tables had been served before us, even though they were seated after us. Clearly they had forgotten our order, but instead of being honest they tried to hide the fact.
The service stewardess said she would check, another 20 minutes passed and she said she had just seen one salad coming out so the other would follow too. (To which we found out later on this wasn't the truth). After another wait I eventually went inside and spoke to the manager at the bar and explained the situation and asked what was happening as we really had to go (2 hours had passed from when we arrived) he said our salads had been bagged up in the kitchen as they thought we had left? Even though we were still sat at the same table outside? So I politely declined the offer of a warm, bagged up salad which had been sitting in the kitchen for far too long.

All in all we ended up leaving without eating and decided to go to the mexican restaurant close by. Staff not apologetic in the slightest, which made it quite clear they didn't really care. Attitude of the staff was terrible, unprofessional and not what we expected. Poor communication between staff, no one had a clue what was going on with our food, and they were not in a hurry to rectify the situation.

Good cocktails here - but unfortunately that is about it. Wouldn't recommend I'm afraid.
