“sun, sea, speed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

We just wandered past this place and decided to hire a boat on the spur of the moment, and I'm so glad we did. It was a fantastic treat to steer the boat under Granville Bridge and out into the open water, then speed the boat up and do some screaming! After five weeks in Vancouver where there are lots of things to do, this was definitely a highlight of the whole trip. It was an expensive treat, and probably there are cheaper places to hire a boat, but this is in a great location, right on Granville Island, and I didn't grudge the price at all. It was straightforward to get going and we were given clear instructions about the rocky/ sandy places to avoid. If you're in Vancouver for a holiday, I'd recommend this to anyone.

“Great afternoon”

We rented the Sea Ray. It’s the most expensive but it was worth it for the extra power and better boat.

We had 2 hours, which was long enough for us to get past:- lighthouse park, horseshoe bay, Bowen Island and Bowyer Island. We though we saw dolphins around here, but they where about 50-100meters away so was hard to tell if they where dolphins for sure. Great photo opportunities with the lighthouse and scenery

When driving back we went under the Lions gate bridge and past Stanley park, into the harbour area for some more great photos.

We used 3/4 of a tank of gas.

We had the boat going full speed for considerable parts of the trip. Great fun, but be extremely careful of driftwood, there’s quite a bit, we had someone on lookout at all times! If you get a slower boat you might need more time to get this far, the speed was very good, if you’re splitting the cost between multiple people as we did I cant recommend strongly enough going for it and getting the best.

With the company based on Granville Island its convenient to get to and we planned on looking round Granville Island on our trip so worked out great.

Hope you found this review useful! If you did dont forget to tick it up so I know im on the right track!

“Fantastic!”

As my son and I hopped off the False Creek ferry at Granville Island, we noticed the rental boats. On a whim, we decided to rent a boat. Best decision we made that day! The views are beautiful! We chose to go around the city and then up towards the falls. Best two and half hours of our trip to Vancouver! We had so much fun that we are going to rent a boat again this week! Thank you to the staff who were knowledgeable, efficient and friendly.

This was a Great Experience and I recommend it highly. I was given a gift certificate for Granville Island Boat Rentals for my birthday as my friend knew we had a trip planned to Vancouver. My friend and I took the boat out and had a great time, it was so easy to drive. This was our first time boating and renting and I have to say, they made it really easy for us. We even spotted some seals and dolphins while out on the water. The best birthday present :)
