“Best Chicken Teriyaki!”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

This restaurant is right across the street from the Blue Horizon Hotel on 1230 Robson Street. I always order the sushi roll and Chicken Teriyaki boat dish (the dish is shaped like a boat!). The chicken teriyaki is crunchy on top and the chicken is perfectly cooked and tastes just great. I've had many chicken teriyakis from excellent restaurants in San Francisco and Honolulu but this one tastes the best. The New Asahi is a small family-run (it looks that way) restaurant and it has very good people working there. The agetashi tofu is also very tasty and much better tasting than the one served at Ebisu on Robson, just up the block. My daughter loves the sushi here and she's a sushi connoisseur.

“good quality food and reasonably priced”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Recently had lunch here whilst on vacation in Vancouver. it doesn't look much from the outside and the decor inside is very basic. However it was quite busy for a lunchtime.

We had sushi and sashimi which was very good and excellent quality. The price of the food was also reasonable and the service was prompt.

If you're looking for some good sushi I would recommend this little restaurant.

“Good but inconsistent”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

I lived in downtown so tried almost every food on menu, and they were mostly all fantastic. But some visits, I got low quality sasimi. Especially the last time I visit, tuna wasn't as good as usual so I was very disappointed.

“Not worth it”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

Expensive for what you get, and slow service. There is much better sushi around.
