“Deli/grocery & Restaurant”
Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

High end grocery with a buffet style restaurant.
Great for hotel guests wanting to avoid the hotel food - great for a quick wholesome breakfast or an eat in dinner. Inviting layout, beautifully merchandised store, with extended opening hours. Staff are pleasant and free wifi is a bonus.

“Grocery Store/Eatery”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

I found staff to be friendly and merchandise easy to find and also came with an eatery where you could eat in or take-out.

“A big Deli? or a Small Supermarket with Eat-in? Good either way.”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

It seems a bit strange to be reviewing a supermarket under restaurants, but Urban Fare covers both bases, A well presented (albeit pricey) supermarket with an emphasis on organic stuff, with a cafe, pizza shop and bistro all under the one roof.

I happened in and stayed for a very acceptable seafood linguine and a glass of pinot gris. It is cafe style eating, so don't expect an atmosphere, but the food was good. Plenty of locals picking up cooked food ready to eat I assume in a nearby apartment, and many prepared foods ready to cook.

Ideal if you're travelling and on your own, whether you want to cook in your apartment or save yourself the bother of cooking without having to find a restaurant that is suitable for one.

It is an excellent concept, but one that only works where you have a suitably "yuppie" population in the neighbourhood.

So if you're coming to Vancouver, and find an apartment to rent nearby be assured that you'll be well provisioned. Or if you just want to get out of the hotel for a change, then stock up and fill up.

“Great food”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

A great place for a quick breakfast or lunch, especially if you are as wary of hotel food as I am. Lots of hot food choices, all freshly made.

“Great Cafe in a super "natural foods" grocery store”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

I was headed to Gastown and took a left instead of a right at Cordova. Ended up here as it smelled like hot breakfast. Excellent plate of eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast at a reasonable price. Friendly staff.
