“can't beat the location”

Didn't really care that the room decor was out dated. The bed is extremely comfortable, bathroom was clean and luxurious, and most of all it's right in the centre of downtown Vancouver!

Lovely hotel in downtown Vancouver - great for business or sightseeing / visiting vancouver

Comparable to four seasons nearby in amenities with more reasonable pricing

Some really great things about the hotel:

- Nice swimming pool on roof of 2nd floor
- You can bring your dog with you
- Great location
- Joining their frequent guest program gets you free wifi
- They provide bicycles to tour the city on request

Food is nice and the hotel is elegant and stylish in a turn of the century style

We spent a night at the hotel after flying into Coal Harbour. It was a simple walk up to the hotel from the waterfront. The staff were great; they saw that we had kids and made sure that we ordered milk and cookies before bed time. Also, ordered a couple of great pizzas from room service. Would happily stay there again.

The Fairmont provided an excellent and spacious room. Initial and final opinions were marred by poor interpersonal skills by the people in reception, a one-off given that we found Canadians to be the friendliest and most polite people on earth. The Fairmont was in the heart of the city. The room was exceedingly spacious, comfortable and classy, but sensor detectors in the fridge, to detect any movement of contents and an automatic bill whether opened or used or not,, rendered one disinclined to even look for milk for a cup of tea. Constant interruptions by staff knocking on the door during the day were also annoying.

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is a uniquely elegant hotel, and one of the former Canadian Pacific hotel masterpieces. The hotel was excellent, rooms clean, and everything as expected. Although the hotel's standard rates are high, the hotel website offers a number of reasonable rates. If you want a unique hotel experience in Vancouver, try the Fairmont.

We stayed there in August 2009. It was a really nice hotel but i have no idea how much it cost. It was part of the Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf package which included a free night there. We were in room 657 on 6th floor. The room did have an incredibly small window but was a really large room with really good air con and comfortable bed.
The Swimming pool was ok but the photos do flatter the reality.

Remember to take your room key and dressing gown when you go to the swimming pool. The changing rooms are very nice with lockers with towels. The gym is ok with a few running machines but nothing spectacular

There is a small area to sit outside amongst the skyscrapers which is nice with great views.

The main hotel lobby is beautiful and the hotel itself is in a really nice part of downtown with lovely shops / bars etc. if you want a cool little bar nearby, try the cactus club only 100m from the hotel. There are 4 exits so not sure which one we took.

There are apparently free mountain bikes but we were not there long enough to use.

One small complaint is that there are no tea making facilities. apart from that it was a lovely hotel.

Great location in the heart of downtown Vancouver + excellent, attentive staff that cater to your every whim (and offer good recommendations too) + spacious, spotless room + attractive off-season rates = a great 3 day stay in 1 of the world's most attractive cities. Would definitely recommend both (and go back of course ;-)
