This iconic hotel appeared very grand but the staff and the service were quite outstanding. I have stayed in quality hotels around the world and this was the best.

The room itself was large and very comfortable, the beds the most comfortable we have ever experienced. Although it was only on the second floor it was VERY quiet.

The cleaning staff were very efficient and very accommodating, cleaning when it was convenient to us. They were also very friendly and cheerfull.

The staff in the lounge were extremely helpful and provided anything we asked for, on the menu or not.

The Manager of Griffins restaurant was very helpful when we asked for a special menu for 12 people on New Years Day and at a very reasonable cost. The service was excelent too.

Our grandchildren loved the Xmas decorations, too!

There must be something not quite so good? The swimming pool was freezing!

The stay was the best of any hotel I have used anywhere, not just because of the grand surroundings but more because of the attentive and efficient and friendly staff.

Well done.

We arrived Christmas day and the hotel exceeded our expectations on christmas! The foyer had lots of beautifully tastefully decorated trees and a gingerbread entrance to the bar and restaurant made out of sweets! Mr and Mrs Clause were there in the lobby for anyone to have their photo taken with them and it was really lovely. I felt so christmassy!

The hotel was warm, clean and the location was fantastic. minutes walk to the main shopping areas. The staff recommended a fantastic area for shopping for ski outfits too which was fantastic.

We paid extra to stay on the executive floor and were very happy with the service we received. we were well looked after with very friendly staff and had breakfast in the executive lounge floor which had a lovely array of foods and they had nibbles and drinks late afternoon which were delicious and plentiful too.

Would recommend this hotel particularly the executive floor to anyone who wanted to spoil them selves a bit and have a wonderful holiday by being well looked after by the hotel staff and minutes to everything Vancouver has to offer.

Room Tip: if you can - splash out and stay on the executive floor!

Fairmont properties has done an excellent job maintaining this historic hotel. Very friendly staff, warm and inviting lobby to greet you - they even have dogs for you to check out and walk around town! The location was convenient to walking to multiple places, clean, spacious rooms, comfy beds, and the hotel restaurant has a delicious and large buffet that I would highly recommend. Extra bonus if you stay here around the holidays you can see all the beautiful decorations - flocked trees and candy house in the lobby!

This was our fourth stay at the Fairmont as we usually stay there as a stop over on our way to skiing. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and the rooms are very clean. I did feel however the rooms are looking a little tired and the bathrooms could do with an upgrade. Having said that the service cannot be faulted and we love going to the bar for pre or post dinner drinks as they have a live pianist, it is also situated right in the centr do the hotel so you can watch the comings and goings.....each time we go to Vancouver we say we will try a different hotel but we keep coming back because it is so close to everything and we feel like we are coming home!

We stopped in mid-afternoon for a drink in the lobby bar of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and were not disappointed. It was filled to capacity but a table came free almost immediately. It was a special treat to see the huge silver Xmas tree in the lobby, the decorations and the great candy cane archway into the lobby bar. As well we enjoyed the background music of a harpist especially the Xmas music. Service was excellent despite the full house.

This has been our third visit to this hotel, but it has been the first time that I was disappointed with it.

I still can't believe that we were placed in a 1 bedroom suite, which had all the windows blocked over and we were unable to open the windows more than 2 inches. Therefore, no air and no natural light. Needless to say, these are not conditions conducive to a pleasant holiday. I only managed to stay in the room/ cell for about 6 hours before claustrophobia lead me to wander around the hotel from about 3 am.until staff arrived at the front desk, about 7am.

I am pleased to say that there was another suite available and there wasn't a problem about shifting us there. Although the problem was resolved, I believe that rooms in this appalling state shouldn't be made available to guests, without first informing them of the condition of the rooms at the time of booking or at least when you arrive at the hotel.

Does this overshadows the many positive aspects of Fairmont Vancouver- beautiful lobby, Griffins and excellent room service? That may depend on your claustrophobia level! .

Dear Guest,
Please accept my sincere thanks to you for taking the time to share your experiences at our “Castle in the City”. I am disappointed to learn of your experiences at check-in. The window coverings in place in certain guestrooms are provided for the privacy of our guests during some planned restorative work on our heritage building. Please note that as a safety measure in place throughout our hotels, our bedroom windows are set to only open a few inches. I am following up with my team to review our processes for areas to improve our communication at the check in stage.

I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

Sunny Joseph

I have to start by saying that my family will always remember this hotel due to the fact that got to walk the resident Labrador. For a family living abroad away from their pets this was a simple but very special treat. I think this activity was a real symbol of a business that aimed to please their customers not by fancy modern decor, high speed internet, 1,000,000 thread count sheets or docking stations beside the bed (it may have had all of these) but service and a welcome that was about people. Being foreigners to the country even the great recommendation of where to go for pizza with the family from the conceirge desk turned out to be a hit and the complimentary milk and cookies for the kids filled a hole when the kids were "starving". Staying in a large hotel around Christmas time still felt special with all the effort that had gone to decorate the hotel foyer. We satyed in a family room that had two large flat screen TV's but with 5 of us and only 1 toilet sometimes this caused tension.
