It doesn't matter whether you go for brunch, lunch or dinner Hawksworth is always exceptional. The staff is polished, knowledgeable and gracious. The atmosphere might seem a bit NYC at first but this discounts that it is 100% Vancouver - with a lot of style. Artwork throughout the restaurant (and hotel) is from some of BC and Canada's best artists. But the highlight is the exceptional food. Always fresh,( usually local ) beautifully presented and delicious !
The bar is also popular with a great wine selection by the glass. Facing the Vancouver Art Gallery it's right in the heart of "tourist central" but you know a good restaurant by the number of locals that support it and Hawksworth has attracted both.

Hawksworth was a bit "standoffish" in the beginning I guess the prices seemed higher a couple of years ago, but it has found its' audience and has a wonderful blend of offerings. For this lunch I had two appetizers, the spiced hamachi with crispy taro squares, cucumber sunomono, umeboshi, smoked miso and octopus ceviche with side stripe shrimp, avocado, fried thinly sliced plantain & lime dressing. The octopus pieces were small and tender nd the dressing was beautiful.
They were both superb. My wife had the crispy duck salad and enjoyed it tremendously. The food is beautifully presented and has wonderful texture and taste. The service was friendly and well done. Superb all around

after eating there once, I hD to return as the experience was memorable! The food is fresh, delicious and presented with flair. You must have the carrot salad - the best salad that I have ever had. It is difficult to get reservations and if you do - be on time.

This restaurant is difficult to get a table at and it's easy to see why. The ambiance in the room is pleasant however the restaurant is certainly busy, with people going in all directions.

The food was generally very good, but not great, with the exception of the slow cooked lamb main course, which was cooked to perfection. The flavour combinations in some of the starters and desserts were overly ambitious and didn't quite work.

The service was unimpeachably excellent all round.

Prices are at the top end but not extortionate. We paid about $100/ head incl wine.

Definitely worth a visit if you can get a table.
