I would have given the centre an excellent rating if the facility had been a few degrees warmer! The AC made it very uncomfortable to sit in one place for very long. I loved the wooden walls made from mountain pine beetle wood. We enjoyed the view of the water and the seaplanes landing and taking off. We walked back to our hotel via the sea wall. Another time, we easily caught a bus.

We were last here just prior to the Winter Olympics. They had just started to plant the gardens on the roof. What a transformation. It looks fantastic. We love the Seawall walk, despite the crowds on the Canada Day long weekend. Well worth visiting. We love Vancouver.

I have been to many convention centers throughout the United States and Canada, this one by far is the best, the rooms are easily accessible and the surroundings are gorgeous, lots of restaurants nearby and the views are spectacular

I recently attended the "Gala Dinner with Cocktails" at the Convention Centre East. The conference was for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. As a companion to the delegate I paid $140 for the privilege. The tables were set for ten. There were no cocktails. Two bottles of BC wine were placed on the table for ten diners. The salad course was acceptable if unremarkable. The buns placed on the table were good. In fact I ate two of them, one of them in the half hour delay to the main course. The main course? Breast of chicken that had sweated in a closed container until it resembled boiled poultry. It was leached of any flavour but perhaps the fact that the chicken had been frozen at some point led to the flavourless offering. This pathetic piece of poultry was accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes. They were truly mashed and compressed. On top of the sturdy potatoes, was laid a stem of broccolini with a tough stem. Two baby carrots finished off this gala offering. The carrots, alas, had been stored where something stronger affected their favour. The dessert was an unremarkable but tasty chocolate slice. Vancouver is known for its exciting and excellent restaurants. The food served Sunday night at the convention centre should have been an embarrassment to the kitchen staff and the convention managers. $140 is too much to pay for a $20 offering even if the surroundings are lush.
