“Disappointed”
Reviewed December 30, 2007

We checked into our non-smoking room with a queen bed after traveling 15+ hours from the states. Once our luggage was organized, our room keys stopped working. The front desk told us this was an ongoing problem and gave us new keys which also did not work. She told us management would be in at midnight and "might be able to fix it, and might not." Not much of a guarantee. The only other queen room available was smoking which was definately not an option for us. Since we didn't want to wait til midnight for maintenance we were put into a room with 2 beds and a smaller TV. We were assured we would not be charged for the more expensive room. We asked if we could be put into a AAA member room because it was available with a queen bed, they told us we would be charged for that accomodation. If we booked well in advance and our broken key entry on the door was the hotel's fault, shouldn't they accomodate us to another room with the same or more specifications than we asked and not a downgrade? Also, if they were being so kind as to not charge us for the 2 bed room, shouldn't they be so kind and not charge us for the member room?

On observation of the hotel parking lot, there are less than 20 cars. I guess they are all staying in a queen room!

I saw a previous complaint was replied to by Randy, unfortunately he doesn't work here anymore. I'm hoping Veshna and/or Bill will find this review and allow their employees to better accomodate their guests.

I stayed at this quaint inn for three nights when attending a conference at BC Place. It is a gorgeous property with beautiful landscaping at the curb & especially in the enclosed courtyard. The room was in excellent condition & spotlessly clean. Very nice décor & comfortable bed. All rooms overlook the enclosed courtyard & make you feel almost like being in an exotic garden. The courtesy call from the front desk shortly after check-in was a nice touch which shows they care. All staff were friendly & helpful with directions & suggestions on places to dine. It only took about ten minutes to drive to downtown or Metro Town even between 7:30 & 8:00 a.m. A wonderful experience & great value. I would definite recommend this Days Inn.

If you don't mind a ''motel style'' hotel, this is the place to be in Vancouver.
Clean rooms, good ammenities, safe, free parking and great value for money.
Somewhat better than what you could normally expect from an average Days Inn.
For tourism, access to a car is better as this hotel is not right downtown. 5-10 min car ride to Robson st.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and enjoyed my stays. However, this time, my husband was bitten by something (bed bugs is my guess). I was not staying overnight there as I was caring for a sick relative in hospital. This makes me wonder if I want to stay there again. Quite gross.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your comment. I was glad to read that you have enjoyed staying at our Days Inn several times in the past. We are always pleased to welcome guests back to our hotel. I was distressed to learn of your experience, and after becoming aware of your concern, we immediately contacted a pest control company to investigate further. Although the specialist could not find a possible source for your husbands condition, as a precaution that room was taken out of service and treated. Our utmost concern is for the safety and comfort of all of our guests, and I wanted you to know that your concern was heard and acted upon in a quick and precise manner.

We stayed here with a travel voucher from a promotional company. It was decently clean but it was in a run-down and pretty scary part of town. The mini fridge didn't work in our room so we had to keep our food in ice. I didn't mind the McDonald's vouchers, it was better than most 'continental' breakfasts.

We do not live too far from Vancouver, but needed to be downtown at 7am and I did not want to fight traffic. Its high season and cruise ship season in Vancouver right now, so getting a hotel under $175 is hard to find.
I had stayed at this motel back in 2001 for one night and remembered it was clean. That is all I needed for one night.
I paid $93 plus taxes on a AAA rate. This motel is definately only worth about $49 anywhere else in the world, but this is Vancouver during cruise season!

Parking is down the side and back of the motel and you walk around to the front. There are a few stairs to the check in desk. There are NO ramps and it is not wheelchair accessible at ALL. Keep this in mind if this is something you need.
The lady at check in, Rashma, did not crack a smile the whole time. She was the most miserable person I have ever encountered working at a motel. She wasn't rude or anything to us, but seemed to have very little patience for questions and just seemed stressed or something.
I had requested a ground floor room with 2 beds. We had this no problem. I strongly suggest you request ground floor rooms. Some rooms are 'underground' - you take stairs down to them and some rooms are up a level on the 2nd floor.
Even to get to the ground floor rooms you have to go down about 5 stairs. Not a big deal for us, but for wheelchair people this is not happening - this place is not wheelchair friendly at all.

The room was small, but adequate. Beds were extremely comfortable and there were 3 huge fluffy pillows on each bed. So this was very good! Desk with chair and free wireless (but its sloooooooow). Coffee pot in the room. The really odd thing was the size of the bathroom - it was soooooooo tiny that when you use the toilet you are crammed in a corner between the walk and the edge of the sink. There was a shower stall, no tub.

Our room was very quiet. No noise issues at all.
A very funny thing was the 'pay movies' advertised on the website. On top of the tv is this old old movie box. On one of the channels you had your choice. If you press button 1 on top of the box you can get Big Daddy and some other movie from back in the mid-ninties for 4.95 or if you press button 2 you get 2 porn movies for 5.95.
Interesting in room movie selection.

They do have full cable with all the channels.

At night, I decided to get the coffee pot ready for the next morning so I could just flick it on. I pulled the glass carafe out and it was broken! Someone must have broken it and put it back carefully - I pulled it out and a huge piece of glass fell off and just missed my foot! I called the front desk to tell them and the girl working seemed pretty indifferent about it. I asked for another pot and she said they were in storage and it was too dark to go in there. I told her there was glass all over the floor and she said "oh I will make a note of it for housekeeping tomorrow". HUH? I put a towel down there so I didn't walk on it at all.

Also, note that the vending machine is a little off. My daughter put in $1.25 for reeses pb cups and she got a hershey's almond bar. She doesnt like those, so I put in another $1.25 and she pushed the button for some chips, and out came the reeses cups. At this point we were laughing and wanted to see what happened next, so I put in $1.25 for a hersheys bar, and out popped chips! So its a mystery and be prepared to eat whatever happens to come out!

The next morning I was checking out early and Rashma was on the desk. Oh joy! She still had the miserable look on her face from the day before. She was on the phone with someone making a reservation and I couldnt believe what I heard!
She said to the person "Listen you are going to have to hurry up I have guests checking out and its very busy for me!". Then she read back their reservation and asked for a credit card. I guess the person said they had to go get it. She says to them FIRMLY "When calling to make a reservation you need to have this information handy when you call. I am very busy and have people checking out and really don't have time for this! Why could you not call in the afternoon like most people? Is there a reason you are making a reservation early in the morning? I am very busy!". OMG! If someone did that to me I would have hung up and called the days inn head office!
I was shocked. She then got the info and hung up and rolled her eyes at the phone. I just smiled and signed my bill. She only gave us our McD's breakfast vouchers after I asked.

I would stay here again in a pinch if I needed ONE night. I couldn't stay here for more than one night due to the squished in toilet alone. But its a good clean stopover motel. Just don't expect a smile at the front desk and be prepared to eat at McDs or drive up the street for something else.
It is about a 10 min drive into downtown, or a 10-15 min drive to Metrotown mall.

I was not impressed with the service of the front staff. After check in my friend and I had to wait about 10 minutes before we got keys that didn't work, while the front desk clerk served 2 other people.

During one evening my friend and I were waiting for a taxi cab and after 30 minutes I asked the front desk guy to call another company and he refused...after 40 minutes a car pulled up and a very drunk man solicited us for services we were not willing to give. After repeatedly saying no to the man we ignored him. He then parked his vehicle and started walking toward us and yelling. We then went back to the front desk and told the staff (one staff member) working that there was a man outside who wouldn't leave us alone.

The hotel clerk looked out the window and went 'huh'. The drunk guy came into the hotel and was belligerent and rude to us and the front desk clerk DID NOTHING.

They say they offer coupons for the McDonald's next door but we didn't receive any until we asked. The rooms were okay but not great and this hotel is NOT wheelchair accessible in any way.

Once again, the front desk staff were very unhelpful and not courteous

I apologize that you were delayed in receiving replacement keys to your room. The electronic locks are a tool to insure the utmost in security for our guests, and if the lock senses any type of irregularity, it will require an updated key. It is my understanding that the assignment of your room was changed to accommodate a special request, and I believe that is why the key did not work. We do our best to serve each customer in as timely a manner as possible. During ninty percent of the time our staff would have been able to serve you immediately, however, there is the ten percent that other guests need to be attended to as well.

As for the man you encountered outside, you will unfortunately find people in every community that are less then socially acceptable. In reviewing the security tape of the lobby area, I was unable to find a situation as the one you described. Our staff are trained in providing a safe and secure environment, and had the situation occurred inside the hotel, I am confident that our members would have responded appropriately.
