Great location, clean rooms, comfortable stay. Holiday Inn delivers every time. We discovered this hotel accidentally in summer 2010: we were booked to stay in Best Western Chateau Granville for 3 nights, but after spending one night there we checked out and went walking on the street with all our luggage looking for better hotel and there it was - right across the street: Holiday Inn. At first we thought that it might be too expansive, but they offered CAA discount! And! You get AIRMILES when you join Priority Club! Neither less to say, we are now staying in this hotel every time we visit Vancouver.

Nice room, fair price, excellent location, clean and comfortable. I would definetely repeat my stay here. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions. Avoid the Gastown and Chinatown area after 6pm during summer or when it's dark out.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights, the room was very clean and comfortable, the location for such a short stay was great for us, walking distance to the water and restaurants. close to hop on hop off bus but we mainly walked into town, Groose mountain was certainly worth a half day or more, local supermarket very close could not want much more.

Over a 3 week period we stayed in 4 hotels in Vancouver and whilst the 2 top end ones were down on the harbour by Canada place this one was probably the best for a tourist on foot being smack bang in the middle of everything. Canada Place was a 15 minute walk by which time you had passed all the main shopping malls anyway. In the other direction was the old olympic and exhibition parks. Plenty of bars and restuarants within a 10 minute walking. The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet, the bar was good and the front desk staff really helpful.

Stayed here for 10 nights, just because my training course was held at this hotel.

If you come from YVR Airport then you can take Canada Line and stop either at Yaletown-Roundhouse or Vancouver city centre, both with approx similar distance to reach this hotel at Howe street. However, I recommend to hop off at Vancouver City Centre since the route to hotel is just straight around 1 kilometer away (still okay for me).

Location wise, this hotel is close to city centre and you can find many choices for your appetite. Chinese, Lebanese, Greek, American, coffee shops and range of fast food are in range of 150 meter.

Speaking about the King Business Class room, I received discount because of the course is in the hotel. It is sizable for 2 adults, equipped with iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, a coffee maker, an electric jar, a refrigerator, a Philips radio clock, an old fashioned TV, and a comfortable bed and linen. One drawback is the sofa and work seat, which look tired.

The bathroom is equipped with bath tub. Looked old but functioning well together with the tap and toilet. Amenities are supplied everyday.

One big plus is the free wi-fi internet. Every hotel shall provide free internet, not to mention many luxurious hotels which awful for charging internet connection and not to compliment that-bear in mind their expensive room price, in this digital era.

I didn't try the pool and breakfast, thus cannot say anything.

In conclusion, the value to money is reasonable, recognizing this is a hotel in North America. However there is nothing special to this hotel. Just all meet their functions but no big plus.

Room Tip: Request a room facing to the front. It has better view even though a little bit noisy

We upgraded our holiday package to 4 star and presumably this is why we were placed in the executive level, in other words we felt we had 4 star rooms in a 3 star hotel. Since we have not stayed in any other Vancouver hotels we cannot compare. Our rooms [we has two in our party] were a good size and the beds were very comfortable and we found the bathroom and shower to be OK. The TVs were very big [the kids appreciated this]. The restaurant had a limited menu but the one occasion we ate there the food was quite good. We were told that breakfasts were quite good there but we preferred to eat out [the Two Parrots nearby is good]. The staff were friendly and the only real quibble we have is that the lifts were inadequate for the size of the hotel, there sometimes being a queue to use them! All in all, not a bad hotel in a good location for exploring the city. We did not have time to use the pool or other facilities.

Strange smell in the room when we got here, had to leave the window open during the day to get ride of fhe smell, a bit of mold on the bathroom ceiling, no fan... Even the room's door stop is broken. I would make sure to book this hotel only if you get a good price. Location is good and they have a pool.
