The repeated 5-star reviews posted here are not exaggerations. In many ways, this is the perfect B&B, and the perfect place to stay in Vancouver. The rooms are lovely and spacious, and impeccably clean. The beds are very comfortable, and are covered in fine linens. The full breakfasts are very good, and the homemade cookies found on the bed each day are a special treat, as are the baked goods and fruit made available throughout the day. The house is lovely, and the host and staff are friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Finally, the location can't be beat - the house is just a few blocks from Denman and Robson Streets, Stanley Park, and English Bay, yet on a quiet tree-lined street. We've stayed in other places in Vancouver, including a top hotel downtown, and they simply don't compare in quality, although they were equal to or more expensive than the Barclay House in price. Just a great place all around!

My wife and I stayed here in early August for only a night. We enjoyed our stay and found the accomodations to be pleasant. It was nice to have cookies (only 2) in our room when we arrived and to be able to grab some fresh fruit before touring Vancouver. Breakfast was great and we found Rich to be very helpful. We found a one night's stay in what I beleive was their smallest room to be a little on the pricey side. However we had never stayed in a B&B before so we don't really have anything to compare it to except for typical hotel prices.

We recently stayed at Barclay House prior to embarking on our Alaska Cruise, and having travelled half way around the World, what a delight it was to experience the homeliness of such a friendly establishment.

It’s position in the West End within walking distance of just about everywhere, and the Restaurants are so handy, we found “Taki’s Taverna” the best Greek Restaurant ever in Davie Street, the whole West End is so wonderful and alive.

We enjoyed our 4 day visit to beautiful Vancouver, be it all too short, we will be back, and we will be staying at Barclay House, we have no hesitation in recommending it to all.

My wife and I were only able to spend one night at this special B&B on our return home from an Alaskan cruise but we wish we'd allowed for several more days at the Barclay House and in Vancouver's wonderful West End!!! The owner and staff were most charming and helpful in assuring that we got a nice samplings of Vancouver dining, sightseeing and shopping for our short visit!!! Our three-room "Garden Suite" was most attractively appointed and decorated with a comfortable sitting room, a bedroom with draped four-poster bed and a spacious modern bath room with a footed shower/tub. Nice extras included coffee and tea supplies, an audio system with CDs, cable TV and wonderful accent lighting throughout. The breakfast included fresh fruit, breads and Tuscan eggs tailored to our wishes. In all, a very special experience that we definitely will enjoy again!!!

It was the best place I ever checked in!
The atmosphere in that house is unbelievable and the staff is awesome!
About the people going through the garbage.... they are looking for bottles and cans to recycle. And can anybody tell me another city where you can walk around in downtown at 3am and not be bothered?

A magnificent building in a heritage street with sumptuous rooms and breakfasts fit for a king or queeen.

When a stay is so good that you don't want to go home must be the ultimate measure of how good a place is. That's what we felt about our stay at Barclay House. We will return!
