Rosellen Suites At Stanley Park
Ranked #48 of 92 Hotels in Vancouver
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Our family had a exceptional stay at the Rosellen Suites on Stanley Park!

The three primary reasons for this were:

1. Quality customer service
2. Comfortable and spacious suites
3. Ideal Location

1. Customer Service
-All staff were extremely polite and helpful
-We booked the 2bed/1bath Classic Suite and were given a free upgrade to the 2bed/2bath -personality suite upon check-in.
-The staff at reception had a comprehensive knowledge of the area including activities suitable to our demographic and events occurring during our stay.
-The rooms were cleaned to a high standard on a regular basis (daily)

2. Suites
-The suites were spacious including a full kitchen and seperate dining area.
-Modern look
-Comfortable beds with quality linen/bedspreads

3. Location
-Adjacent to Stanley Park which has km's of walking/biking trails, scenic lookouts, an aquarium, and a children's play area.
-West End has a diverse selection of quality international cuisines along nearby Denman street.
-The centre of the city is within 10-15 minutes walking distance or there are bus lines which service the area at a reasonable cost.

We would highly recommend the Rosellen Suites at Stanley Park for your intended stay in Vancouver!

This is the perfect location if you want to walk and fully enjoy visiting the sites. Stanley Park is at your door, English Bay is only 4 blocks away, Robson St., China Town, Gas Town and all other tourist sites are easily reached. You are 3 blocks away from a multitude of restaurants and shopping if you desire. We had a 2 bedroom efficiency unit which was quite comfortable and clean. It was nice being able to do laundry at the facility as we stayed for 2 weeks. The area was so quiet, you wouldn't think that you are only 3 blocks from one of the main roads (Denman St). I would highly recommend staying here.

Tired of the usual downtown tower hotels, with cookie cutter furnishings and a minute coffee maker? Like to feel like a local with your own apartment right in the heart of Canada's most beautiful city, just steps from Stanley Park and a stroll fron West End shops, restaurants and beaches? Then give Rosellen Suites a try. This 27-unit low-rise has something for everyone, from studios to one- and two-bedroom suites, with ample room to spread out (600-1900 square feet), suitable for overnighters as well as long-term stays. We picked a "classic" one-bedroom unit, which offered plenty of space for a couple and a lab dog. The furnishing are somewhat old-fashioned, in keeping with the spirit of the original West End, which used to be populated by older ladies in 4-story walkups. But you can opt for a personalized suite for a modest supplement, adding customized decor and features such as an i-Pod docking station and flat screen TV. The full kitchen allows for preparing of full meals, if you tire of the wide variety of restaurant fare on nearby Denman, Robson and Beach avenues. Nice little homey touches include a welcome basket of goodies and linen napkins on the dining table. Best of all is the friendly staff and management. Manager Kent Chan is a treasure--you feel like a regular from the minute you walk in the door. If you want a real home away from home when visiting Vancouver, you can't beat Rosellen Suites in a safe and welcoming neighbourhood.

Room Tip: Not a room tip peer se, but when checking in make sure you are assigned underground parking, as the...

Your complimentary comments and glowing regards for Kent are most appreciated. Just so that guests are clear on the "tip" offered, the hotel does have limited self parking available both indoor and outdoor. Parking is assigned based on the size of the vehicle. Whether parking indoor or outdoor it is equally safe. However, as is the case in any major city, it is never recommended to keep any personal items inside an unattended vehicle regardless of where you may be parking in the city. Again, thanks for sharing your experience. We look forward to your return.

We stayed at the Rosellen for four nights in October. We felt very welcomed at the check-in and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We booked a one-bedroom classic suite and got a two-bedroom. The hotel is older but very well maintained. The room was well decorated and the furniture comfortable. We parked the car in the underground parking and walked everywhere. We would definitely reserve again at this hotel.

Room Tip: We visited one of their one-bedroom classic suite facing the garden and it would be suitable for a l...

Can't say enough good about our stay at the Rosellen Suites. Everything was wonderful. The staff was accommodating and friendly, the suite was extremely comfortable, the soap-shampoo-lotions provided were high-quality. The location is beautiful, just a few blocks from Stanley Park and there are many trendy restaurants and bistros nearby. Overall, this is a terrific choice. Our only word of warning is that we found Vancouver residential neighborhoods a bit difficult to navigate after dark, so if you can arrive during daylight hours it's much easier to find. We love this place. The only reason to stay somewhere else would be if they were booked solid!

Glad that you enjoyed your visit to Rosellen and to Vancouver. And, though it is safe to wander the neighborhood during the evening some of the side streets can be a bit dark. Sorry that you had a bit of challenge walking at night. For your next visit please stop by Guest Services and we will make sure to provide you with clear and easy directions on how to get to and from wherever you may choose to go. Looking forward to your return!

We stayed here wIth family in two separate 2bed2bath units (5 adults and 4 children under 3.5 years). It was good budget self-contained family accommodation in a great location close to Stanley park, walking distance to the sea wall, downtown and aqua-taxi to Granville Island (20min walks). There was a Safeway nearby for convenience and a Blenz coffee shop on the corner and range of restaurants for eat out options. The building is older (appears to be a former condo) but this means the suites have a lot of space. The decor/furnishings were quite eclectic with a mix of different furnishing styles...it was like staying at your older aunty's place. The suites are comfortable and rooms adequate size, however, ours with a crib in it meant we needed to leave our suitcases in the lounge due to a lack of space in the bedroom. The crib and parking cost extra. The one down side was the parking underneath the building as it was extremely difficult to navigate both our cars (Chevrolet impala and Chrysler town and country) in the tight space. If checking in after hours, you need to be familiar with checkin instructions on booking confirmation as the front desk isn't manned all hours.

Thanks to comments from guest such as yourself, Rosellen Suites was listed as the 2nd best hotel for families in all of Canada by TripAdvisor. The time you took to share your comments are most appreciated. Our apologies on the parking as it can be a tight fit in most parking lots in Vancouver. However, for future stays, please note that we have both indoor and outdoor parking. Outdoor is reserved for larger vehicles that are typically too large to fit into the underground garage. However, if space is available we are always happy to accommodate a guest parking outside that is a bit easier to maneuver. We look forward to your serving you, again, on your next visit to Vancouver.

We recently stayed at this hotel for a week. My Husband and I were upgraded to a two bedroom suite which we really appreciated for the extra roominess and storage.
Yes, some things were a bit frayed around the edges, but we got everything we needed for our vacation, and then some. There was a little welcome basket which provided tea, coffee, bottled water, and popcorn in the fully stocked kitchen (complete with dish washing liquid, detergent for the dishwasher, paper towels, and dish towels).
Daily room service provided clean sheets, towels, kitchen towels, and place mats and napkins as well as straightening up and topping up bathroom toiletries. A more rigorous cleaning occurred twice a week. There we coin operated washers and dryers in the building (which we didn't use).We appreciated having a portable air conditioner during a couple of warm days. Front desk is there during normal working hours. However, one can always reach them by phone. There is an elevator with access to every level.
The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, just minutes from the park, in one direction, and shops and restaurants in another.
Safeway, Whole Foods, and No Frills Supermarkets are only a few blocks walking distance.
The B C Liquor store on Robeson has the best prices and selection.
While staying at the hotel, they offer complementary passes to Denman Fitness, a comprehensive facility with sauna and steam rooms.

We did not have a car, and easily walked everywhere in the city. Public Transportation is plentiful and can also do the trick. We cooked breakfast and dinners in, and had lunches out.

When the front desk staff leaves, the front door is locked and can only be accessed by the key to one's suite.

The only criticism I would offer to the owners is about improvements.
The theme of the suites is a bit confusing. When updating, it might work if you stayed in the Katherine Hepburn era, or a Retro style, in keeping with the over all hotel..

Room Tip: at the very least, go for two bedroom suites

Thanks very much for sharing your comments and for the suggestions in renovations. While other hotels do have one common theme, Rosellen has 27 suites and each one is unique. We have found that some guests like a traditional style while others like a more contemporary style. By offering a selection of different suites, we are typically better able to meet the personal preferences of most guests. Rather than being "cookie cutter" Rosellen offers choices. On your next visit please let us know your preferences and we will be sure to match the suite that best meets your needs.
