I knew from reading reviews that the West End Guest House was a lovely place and that everyone enjoyed their stay there, but the reality was so much more incredible than I expected! First off, the location is wonderful - right in the middle of everything yet on a quiet, residential street - and Evan's communication during the booking and confirmation process is excellent and so helpful!
I was in the "Cozy Double" meant for a single traveler, but I've stayed in "full-sized" rooms that size in NYC many times. It was perfect - every detail is thought of! The bed was ridiculously comfortable and I slept like a baby every night. The bathroom facilities were pristine and wonderful products were provided.
I took advantage of Evan's DVD library while I was there - there was a flat screen TV with a built-in DVD player on the wall at the end of the bed.
Breakfasts were so much more than I've ever experienced at a B&B. Breakfast is at 8am on weekdays and 8:30am on weekends and the intention is for all of the guests to sit around the table together (which at first seemed like it might be a little awkward) but is, in fact, lovely! I met so many lovely people from all over the world! And the breakfasts that Evan creates are phenomenal. There were always fresh breads or pastries on the table (still hot!), a first...I knew from reading reviews that the West End Guest House was a lovely place and that everyone enjoyed their stay there, but the reality was so much more incredible than I expected! Evan also hosts a "sherry gathering" at 5pm every day - just another nice, social event available if you happen to be at the B&B!
I can't say enough about this beautiful property and its lovely hosts. I can't wait to stay there again the next time I'm in Vancouver!More
