“Perfect for downtown stay and comfort”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

I stayed for a week in late July while attending a symposium at the 'Fairmont' hotel downtown. Choosing the bed and breakfast option worked perfectly as the Kingston Hotel provided a good ambience of friendly and helpful staff, and a decor that imparted a sense of comfort and security, with a clean and bright single room with solid basics and space to relax in. It was a treat to breakfast in a room off the lobby overlooking the street which invited one into the day; also in providing an opportunity to enjoy the company of other guests if amenable. Its location is its key attraction which underlies one's mobility in moving around the city with its access to all forms of transportation on the doorstep and in a pleasant neighbourhood.

Room Tip: End of corridor and first floor was quiet.

I stayed nine nights in the Kingston Hotel In July. I was attending a conference at the Westin Bayshore, whose rooms are no doubt bigger and whose facilities are more luxurious, but whose prices are way out of my range. I opted for a private bath, since it was a long stay, but there are rooms at $75 a night with shared bath. The hotel was very clearn and quiet (except for the construction noise next door, but I was out all day anyway) and the staff helpful. Breakfast was adequate and fast and the restaurant next door serves surprisingly good dinners (not just pub fare). It's the location that is the big bonus: within walking distance of everything you need, including two sky train stations to get you anywhere further afield. I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room that doesn't overlook the street if you like to sleep in, at least during c...

I initially booked this accommodation due the attractive sticker price however, had not realized that a shared bathroom may mean having to wait for the toilet while someone else used the shower facilities... Upgraded to a room with private bathroom for an additional $55 which would have put me into any number of other hotels nearby. Very quaint breakfast area. Smallest television I have seen in a hotel room in over 25 years.... watched the NBA championship game on a 12x12 screen!

I stayed in The Kingston for a week during mid June.
This is right at the downtown and very clean rooms with good facility
The hotel staff was extremely courteous and very helpful
Sean at the the desk was really nice and their breakfast was really good
You also have the supermarket and ATM's nearby
Of course there are many food joints at walking distance with food available for the global pallet
All the sight seeing facilities can be easily assessed
The net connection was excellent
Housekeeping very prompt
Definitely a great hotel for the price and location

Room Tip: Better to be out of your room during daytime when the work is going on nearby. You can avoid the noi...

I was there for 6 nights in June, and everything was fine.
I suppose the worst of the construction noise was over by then, since I heard very little of it.
Not disturbing at all.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Good location. 2 blocks from train stations, and close to bus stops that go to Capilano, Grouse, Horseshoe Bay and Stanley park.
Near some good but inexpensive restaurants on Robson (Falafel Maison, Ramen Jinya, Gyu Don Ya).

I give it 3 stars only because it's not a luxury place. -- it's a no-frills hotel, but you get value for your money compared to other options downtown.

My husband and I stayed in a small room with a sink and shared a bath for about 80 dollars a night. It's important to note that the bed is a 3/4 double bed and probably suited for a single person not two people. The construction goes during work hours. It started around 7:30am and goes until 6pm so if you want to sleep in, then you might want to consider another place to stay. We took advantage of the sauna, which was nice and private. The place is clean and in a great location if you don't mind it being in the middle of construction site. There'a basic continental breakfast. There is no hotel garage so you'll have to pay additional for parking about a block away.

Room Tip: If you are a couple, take note that the single bed option is a small bed designed for a single perso...

Would recommend this B&B. There is significant construction at the moment but this doesn't impact on your stay, you're not there to sleep-in!! Staff are great and keen to help with any queries. Had a significant flight delay but all email corro was appreciated and it was a relief to know that part of our holiday was going to plan. Breakfast is bagels/juice/coffee, definitely enough to get you started for the day. Parking is around the corner near Grand Westin ~ $30 per day.
Shared bathroom was very clean. Free wi-fi.
