“Good Value for Money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2008

The hotel has a great location, literally 15 min. walking to waterfront (Seabus terminal). There is a lot of construction going on in the area, but we have not heard any noise from the construction site in our room. We stayed 3 people in the room, which had 2 queen beds and a pull-out couch, which turned out to be a really comfortable to sleep on, 2 TVs, ok size bathroom. Furniture etc. seemed to be new. Breakfeast is complimentary and given that couple of muffins, tea and coffee I consider adequate. The staff was ok apart from the fact that when our business partners called us from overseas, they were informed we already checked-out which was not the case. Also, be aware that when you check out and want to leave you bag with a consierge, you will have to pay 1 CAD, this I consider extremely cheap on the hotel's part, but oh well... Given the great rate we received from Orbitz, I still rate this hotel above averge and would definitely stay there again and recommend it.

My husdand and I have just returned from a tour of Canada and we spent the last 4 nights at this hotel. Our room was super as all the rooms are suites and ours had recently had new carpets etc. Hovever its location currently leaves a lot to be desired., Due to Vancouver holding the winter olympics in 2010 there is an awful lot of building work to be finished and this hotel is right in the middle of it. The surrounding streets are incredibly dirty and there is rubbish everywhere. Also there were a lot of homeless men rummaging through rubbish and asking for money! We definitely had to think carefully about where we were walking! Also some of the surrounding shops and cafes are quite 'tacky'.The indoor pool is only a small 'lap pool' and some of the staff were quite abrupt. If you can afford it stay at the Westin Bayshore - it has a superb location and I wished we had paid just that little bit extra!

I would not recommend this hotel though its location is great for shopping and other activities downtown. We did not appreciate the presence of cockroaches in our hotel suite.

We stayed at Rosedale for three nights in August 2008 with high expectations of having a nice holiday in the Vancouver area. The result was the direct opposite. The first disappointment was the breakfast. Trapped in a tiny area behind some vending machines was a pathetic "buffet" consisting of some muffins and beverages. Most of the hotel guests had to eat standing up, since only a handful of tables were available. One night the fire alarm went off. It was barely hearable in the room, more sounding like an alarm in need of a battery exchange, and only after a call to the front desk we came to the understanding that the fire alarm was on and that we were supposed to rush down to the street level. Well down there, we waited with several other guests for a long time, seeing guests coming in and out of the elevators, but no announcements were made. Finally, we were allowed to return, only to find that the alarm now started to sound clearly for a couple of hours. Repeated worried calls to the front desk were only met with "the alarm system is broken". The next day we had no hot water, and only after a call to the front desk we were informed of a malfunctioning hot water system. The hotel was a joke, don't go there.

We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel in downtown Vancouver to stay at prior to our cruise ship departure. This hotel is in a very nice area of downtown. It was within walking distance of pretty much everything. Vancouver does have some seedy areas, but we felt very comfortable here. Hotel was very clean and is in the process of updating their decor. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Good overall value for Vancouver. Dog friendly without smelling like it. Small kitchenette and living room area, secure parking. Close to BC Place and shopping.

  • Liked — Pet Friendly and underground parking
  • Disliked — The restaurant /bar on site looked a bit skanky

Stayed at the Rosedale before and after an Alaska cruise, six days in all. It had everything you could want for a city based stay and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 13th floor room initially which certainly would have given vertigo sufferers a problem with the floor to ceiling window. We loved the city views though. We loved Vancouver and the Rosedale was a great place to stay.
