“Basic room, incredible view.”
Reviewed December 7, 2009

If you are used to luxury or upscale rooms with modern amenities, you might be disappointed with this hotel. Rooms at Empire Landmark are as basic as it gets. The alarm clock looked like it was purchased at a garage sale. The room was clean and the price was right for us, but we're used to sleeping in budget hotels.

If you're not as picky and looking to spend a little less, it's well worth it for the view alone. Prime location on Robson Street among a multitude of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. Have at least one drink at the lounge in Cloud 9, restaurant didn't seem worth the price based on other reviews.

Next time I will book directly with the hotel, not through Expedia or another travel website. It seems reservations from these sites are for whatever room is available, not necessarily the room you reserved. Booked a queen and received a double twin. When I called the front desk they explained the policy, but this was after we had checked in and went to the room. This policy was not clearly stated on Expedia's website.

I do not often write reviews on accom, but in this case i feel i have to, We stayed originally 3 nights(trying pot luck off internet reviews), then away for 3, and enjoyed the location, friendly staff, great views, price and the breakfasts so much we came back and stayed another 2 times after that, each time was better than the previous.

Totally recommend this hotel, it is older, but you get what you pay for, and for 85cad/night (offseason price 2009) including breakfast for 2, really it cant be beaten.

I have to say that the conference facilities and services were quite good and the view from my room was really nice; but the rooms were very small. Pillows were flat and bed was hard. But what really got me was something that was written in a previous review ... I had a 20 inch tube TV in my room to watch. 20 inch!! Ridiculous!

we had a fantastic view, English bay to the left, grouse mountain to the front, and coal harbour to the right.

our room on the 24th floor had a full size fridge to keep your drinks cold in, a (somewhat noisy ) heater.air con and the balcomy that comes as standard with this hotel. dont bother with hotel brekkie unless you have already paid for it $18 for a lacklustre buffet, hmm, head instead to marys hamburger restaurant on davie street, fabby yukon breakfast for $8 or pop across the bridge to the tomahawk diner for pancakes to die for.

would stay in this hotel again ( it could do with some updating but everything worked and was cleaned daily) only thing missing was a decent local pub. every different food you can imagine is right there on robson - recommend steamroller burritos. personally he chinese buffett on the right side of robson was a turn off.

Spent a week here on my first visit to Vancouver. My room was large, with two beds, large closet, bathroom and a kitchenette. Even a table and chairs and the beer fridge was a big bonus.

I was on the 21st floor and my friend was ten floors above, so I got to see the views in both directions. Perfect for me as I was on a smoking floor.

The lobby staff were excellent at all times, and the cleaning staff were superb, suppling extra stuff at my request.

Parking was easy and cheap at $10.00 per day. The television is old and crummy, but if you're staying at a hotel, you shouldn't be sitting around watching TV except for the weather channel to help plan your day. Internet access was only negative, a staggering $70.00 for six days.

I know when I return to Vancouver, and I will, this is where I will stay.

The hotel is in the town center, just 10 minutes away from the sea and really close to the night life.
It's one of the highest hotels in town, with 42 floors. On the top floor there is a wonderful restaurant with an amazing 360 degrees view all over the Vancouver
The view is amazing also from the higher rooms.

The rooms are spacious, with two beds, SAT TV, refrigerator, phone.
Our room had a balcony, which didn't look very new and could use some retouch.

The bathroom is spacious, with a tub.

The breakfast was really good self-servise with many deverse food and drink.

The lobby is really nice and so is the presonel. You can also find a small souvenir shopp in the lobby.

There is a limit with parking if you have a higher van. So you have to ask what's the hight limit (I forgot).
I think there is also a bussines center, internet and fitness.

The rooms and the hotel was clean and close to everything, so I really recomand it.

The Empire Landmark is a favorite, especially among an Asian clientel, for basic and affordable accomodations in Vancouver's West End. While Robson street, the primier shopping ginza of Vancouver, as taken a down-turn, the hotel's proximity to the plethora of shops there and on Denman, as well as to the English Bay beach and promonade make it an excellent choice for budget-minded travelers who want the city location. Some rooms have been recently remodeled to be fairly spartan, but the mini-refrigerator, coffee-maker, and sink are a definite pluse.
