“Convenience in west end Vancouver”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

I have stayed at the Landmark 20 years ago and it is still a nice hotel, although we are getting somewhat tired. Check in and check out were very smooth and quick. The front desk staff were very professional and helpful. Compared to the prices at other hotels, the Landmark is very good value. Close to shopping, site seeing in Stanley Park, English Bay, and water front, and many restaurants to choose from. The room was clean, and included a flat screen TV, small fridge, and coffee maker and supplies. Each room has a small balcony, with great view on all sides of the building, and the revolving restaurant at the top of the building will offer you a panorama of the most beautiful city in Canada.

Room Tip: Higher floor has an even better view.

My wife was fascinated by the hotel and loved it. I'm a little less impressed. The view from the upper floors is fantastic and really makes the experience. It's unique and can easily cause overlooking other issues. For one the furnishings are old and worn. Sinks with chipped (to black) enamel, missing shelves, a strange and ancient heating/air system. I took from the rating for the hotel holding fast to a 3PM check-in, even in the slow season. Charging to try to check in on-line for air flights (and note that it's trying - couldn't do it) is a bit much. On the up-side the staff was really friendly and helpful. (I finally did get checked in for the flight - but at the front desk PC, after paying for unsuccessful service at the Business Center). See the Cloud 9 restaurant notes for the absolutely fantastic food service). So we will likely go back, but with a number of reservations about the service level.

Room Tip: Reserve the upper floors - the view makes up for a lot of shortcomings.

We needed somewhere to stay while in town for our niece's graduation. The hotel is very conveniently located - on western end of Robson St. close to Stanley Park and English Bay. There is a bus stop right outside the door (easy and cheap way to get to the airport - ask at the desk). Our room had a balcony (I think most rooms do) with a great view; while the furniture could use some updating everything functioned well, the bed was comfortable, high water pressure; very good value considering the cost of other hotels in the area and the people working there very friendly and helpful. There is a fridge in the room and markets/whole foods/safeway nearby also coffee shops and a variety of restaurants to check out.

Room Tip: ask for a view of the mountains or into the city - most if not all rooms have a balcony

Stayed here, spur of the moment, when my son's apartment filled up with all my kids. No room left for Dad!! So did a quick search, and Empire was running a special, and was 3 blocks away! Staff was helpful and friendly. Everything was serviceable, and the room was clean!
The best thing about this hotel was the view. There was no highrises to block the view. We got a city-view room, and it was spectacular! Stayed on the 20th, and the 30th floor for a night each. The first night, it was windy, and the old patio door rattled, but I was so tired, didn't bother me.

Room Tip: Want a city, or a harbour/ocean view??

This is a good hotel for doing things downtown. The hotel is old and the rooms are tired looking...but for the price you can overlook a few things like that. The rooms are bright, the bed are comfortable and the higher rooms have great views of the city. You must go upstairs and enjoy a beverage in the bar....it rotates....80 minutes to do a full rotation and the view is stunning in every direction.....go in the evening and watch the sunset.

Room Tip: ask for a high level room to enjoy the views

Booked my 4 nights already in November 2012: booking.com offered a 4 night stay for 330 CAD dollars. Hotel was easy to reach from the airport by public transport. Check in went fine, and I was given a room on the 35th floor with a breath taking view. The evolving bar/restaurant on floor 42 is highly recommended for a drink for beautiful views over the city , especially when the sun sets. The location of the hotel is perfect: so many shops and restaurants around the hotel. The hotel is also very close to Stanley Park and the Coal Harbour. Room was more than ok , size was perfect and it was kept very clean. I am a fan of this hotel :-)
