Century Plaza Hotel & Spa
Ranked #48 of 92 Hotels in Vancouver

I booked a package that included the Executive suite, 2 tickets to Yuk Yuks, and dinner at the Beyond Restaurant. I thought the service was terrible from the moment we checked in, to the moment we checked out. The room was beautiful, and had great views of Vancouver. My only complaint was there was never any hot water, day or night. Dinner at the Beyond was also sub-par. We had a horrible server, and the food served was completely different from what the menu items stated. The only good part of our stay was the Yuk Yuks experience. That I can definitley recommend, but stay at a different hotel, and just purchase the tickets.

I was looking for an affordable hotel in the downtown Vancouver area. I did a lot of research on Trip Advisor and finally settled for the Century Plaza Hotel. It was a great location, on the 12th floor with a view and it costs less than $90.00. Also, I received a $10.00 voucher to use in their restaurant. The hotel was exactly how I pictured it to be, judging by the other reviews. The lobby was very fancy, but the room was not. It was dated, with older carpet and couch but it was great value. The room was very large with separate living room, small kitchen table and stove and fridge. The bedroom was average and the bathroom a bit on the small side. The room was quite, centrally located, clean, and the front desk help was very friendly and efficient. All in all, I was very happy and would absolutely stay here again. I used the $10.00 voucher for breakfast, so basically ate for free. The food and service was good.

Really loved this hotel. The décor in the room was not terribly modern but the suite had plenty of space and all the facilities that anyone could need. This was really great value for money. I will definitely stay here again.

The former reviews are correct. A grand lobby, but the guest rooms aren't too grand. Pretty simple. But no problems. The food from room service was excellent. 50% of the staff were great, the other half were obnoxious. Sheets were in very poor condition. (Paper thin). However, It was really a nice stay. I like that the rooms are suites, very large. Nice pool (no hot tub) and steam room.

We stayed at the Century Plaza for four nights in the middle of a tour through Canada and Alaska. The hotel is tall and narrow, only 10 bedrooms on each of the 30 floors. It has a very smart entrance lobby. The staff on the Reception desk were brilliant and very helpful.

The “Beyond” Restaurant and Café Plaza are situated at ground level. The Beyond Restaurant is open from 6.30 a.m. to 12.00 a.m., the Café Plaza is open for a variety of salads, sandwiches and snacks from 7.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Our room, No: 1806, was on the 18th floor with terrific views over Vancouver. The rooms are enormous with two double beds, bedside table lamps, chest and small wardrobe in the bedroom area. The TV swivels between the bedroom area and the lounge area which has a very comfortable three seater settee, one long and one square coffee table with reading lamp.

There is a small dining table and two chairs, a kitchenette with large fridge with freezing compartment, a four ring electric cooker, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle and toaster. Washing up liquid and tea towels are provided.

A small, but adequate, bathroom with towels, facecloths, shampoo, conditioner and hairdryer together with very good air conditioning complete the picture.

Safety deposit boxes are available at the front desk free of charge. The menu in the room is fairly comprehensive and the daily paper is delivered free of charge each morning. Body massage, hairdressing and body treatments are available as is a steam room and swimming pool. The pool is a reasonable size but, unlike the rest of the hotel, it looks a bit run down and in need of a face lift.

On arrival we decided to go to the bar for a glass of wine – big mistake. We were giving a minute amount of wine in a very large glass and we were charged $18 [£8.35] for two!!! We did not eat in the hotel as it is fairly expensive and there are numerous cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

There is a grocery store a couple of minutes walk away which we used to buy breakfast ingredients. Tea and coffee is provided in the rooms.

As we had been travelling we decided to send some items to the laundry but the maid told us there was a laundry on one of the lower floors which turned out be be very efficient. She brought us an ironing board and iron and left it with us for the duration of our stay.

This is the second time I've stayed there. The staff is friendly, albeit not too detail-oriented. My first time was before the rennovation. The lobby and restaurant are much better now. Great location, great value.

This was our second trip to Vancouver, and we chose the Century Plaza for the price and also after reading some Trip Advisor reviews. We found it very good value for money for a downtown hotel.

Our room was very clean and spacious with two double beds, a sofa, coffee table, and fully equipped kitchen. The hotel is well located within ten minutes walk of Burrard Station for the Skytrain, and is also close to Robson, the main shopping street.

You will also find a plethora of restaurants in the area, around Davie Village, Robson Street and so on. There is a supermarket five minutes down the road if you wish to stock your fridge with supplies.

The only downside is that the rooms do get very hot at night, however the hotel do provide both a standing fan and an airconditioning unit. Opening the windows at night is not a good idea as it gets very noisy with police and fire sirens. Also, if you want to be on a high floor and get good views of the city, it is best to book directly with the hotel. We asked for a high floor through an online agent and paid up front, but on arrival were told that a higher floor would cost an extra $30CAN per night, which we were not prepared to pay at that stage.

However, we would definitely choose the Century Plaza again, as it is well located, has very helpful staff, a great bar/restaurant, and is more like an apartment block than a hotel.
