Good things to say about this hotel. Newly refurbished clean and modern rooms, very helpful and friendly staff, lovely food, nice toiletries. Lifts are a little scarce at times- could do with another 1 or 2!! Free wifi which is great. 2 blocks away from the sky train subway which will bring you into the city centre in under 5 minutes.

Dear Fifinely,

Thank you for writing this review and sharing your experience.

I am glad to know you have enjoyed our newly renovated rooms and facilities as well as our convenient location.

I would like to apologize for any inconvenience the elevators might have caused you; unfortunately, we are not able to add another elevator due to space limitations. However, our elevators have been newly remodeled and both have intelligent onboard software, making our elevators more efficient.

Again, thank you very much for staying at the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre. I look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the future.

Best regards,

Danny

Friends and I rented 3 rooms for a 2 day weekend party in Vancouver. Hotel was lovely, well staffed, with great views. Clean rooms with nice shampoo's. Great views of the city. For such a nice, really well located hotel, I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was- literally half the price of most other hotels we considered.

Reserved a room about three months prior to our stay so check-in was a breeze. The front desk gave us a city map and explained the transit system on how to find what we wanted, excellent service. We stayed on the 14th floor which was great as the traffic was not heard. The room, containig a king bed, was neat and tidy and very spacious. Housekeeping was great!
As we were there for a medical trip, this was only two blocks from Vancouver General Hospital and everything you could need was within walking distance, I would stay there again!

I had booked a room online for the Holiday Inn on Broadway for medical reasons.
On the website they say they have suites which is what I needed as I had a caregiver with me, however this is not true. Two weeks before I was to go I called them for a suite and was told they didn't have any so I asked to cancel and have my two nights stay returned. They said there policy for all Intercontinental Hotels was to to return funds for any reason including length of time available to re rent the room or medical. Apparently when I booked online I hit a button that made my choice non refundable and even though I talked to many managers including 'customer relations' they were all very rude and adamant that they wouldn't help me. What is the final irony is after many battles they refunded one night accommodation but kept the second. Now if that isn't a money grab just for the sake I don't know as they had already broken their own rules.
Very, Very disappointed that this hotel has trained their staff to have no compassion or customer service values. Not a great way to run a business and we are business people so we know.
I will never stay at another Holiday Inn or Intercontinental Hotel affiliate such as Crowne Plaza.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review and bring your concerns to our attention, we appreciate all guest feedback.

We are the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre located on West Broadway; we are not a suite hotel as indicated on our hotel website. You could have possibly mistaken us with the Holiday Inn & Suites Downtown Vancouver, located on 1110 Howe Street in terms of availability on the room types.

The Advanced Purchase rate offers a wider discount on our room rates; however, the condition is the cancellation fees are non-refundable. In order to complete your online reservation you must agree to the terms "I understand that by selecting the confirm reservation button, I am authorizing a charge to the credit card number provided for any specified deposit requirement and/or cancellation fee that may apply. Cancellation fees are non-refundable." This states a contract between the guest and InterContinental Hotels Group. We at the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre understand there might be changes to travel plans. We offer flexibility by allowing individuals to rebook their reservation within 3-6 months of the cancellation.

We apologize for any inconveniences this might have caused you and truly hope that you will continue to stay with InterContinental Hotels Group.

Best regards,

Danny

Stayed for 2 nights with my family, did not use the F&B facilities as a local market / tourist attraction "GrandVille" with plenty food options is 15 minutes walk nearby - front desk could be more helpful in explaining - no dedicated concierge in the hotel.

Was surprised to see new Holiday Inn Corporate Identity not yet set up at entrance, despite other parts of the world changed already in 2009/10.

Liked the renovated rooms and the view over the water, but didn't like the old style AC (not centrally operated and supplied) which added a constant noise to our sleep.

Car parking very convenient, corridor noice was ok, room cleanliness was very good. Elevator has a nice surprise as it does open on one floor directly into the kitchen, some pool tiles need re-grouting, spacious and nice outdoor terrace next to the pool but not set up and abandoned - shame this could be a major USP for the hotel. . . .

Would stay again if I do have again dealing in that area of Vancouver.

Room Tip: high floor, facing to Vancouver bay, not street facing.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review.

It is only through guest feedback that we can continue to improve; your comments are much appreciated.

I am glad to know that you enjoyed the newly renovated room and the beautiful water views as well as our convenient parking facility.

As you mentioned, our 5th floor patio is a great open space and I believe you will be happy to know that it is currently undergoing renovations so that it can become a more functional space to our future guests.

I would like to thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre for your stay and hope that you will consider staying with us again on your next visit to Vancouver.

Stayed here using my Priority Club rewards. Very good executive king bed room, well maintained and very comfortable bed.

Location is reasonable but be aware it's not Downtown. You're near Canada Line subway (2 block walk) which takes you to downtown as well as YVR airport, as well as most of the tourist spots (Chinatown etc). Local eating is OK but there are many good eateries in Vancouver so travel around to go to them. If you're desparate there's a Tim Horton's nearby open the usual 4,000 hours a day.

Staff all friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable too. Lots of facilities with nice good sized pool with a glass roof so you can see out (it's on the 5th floor). Bistro bar/restaurant staff are very good with reasonable menu - breakfast is OK but not the best I've had (surprisingly restricted buffet).

Very happy with stay there, but check out the TripAdvisor higher rated hotels in downtown with similar deals - they're much better located. If you can't get in them, use this one.

Room Tip: Hotel is 2 blocks away from Canada Line subway which is a $CAD 5 ride from YVR -best value travel to...

Dear valued guest,

Thank you for taking the time and providing us with an excellent review on your recent stay. Our goal is to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Although we are not in downtown Vancouver, we are still close to all tourist destinations with many great restaurants within 2 block radius. The most important is we just went through a $12M renovation which would pretty much give you a brand new hotel.

We were in town one night to watch some football and meet up with friends. The holiday inn was better priced than hotels right downtown, with cheaper parking also. And you can easily walk downtown or it's just a quick easy skytrain ride. The room was recently redone and looked great. Definitely not a large room but perfect for a night or even longer, as long as you don't plan on hanging out there all day. I am also a fan of the neighbourhood. Everything you need or want in a couple minutes walk.
